Call it a promise placed on hold.
On Saturday, a U.S. Marine was killed in Helmand province. On Sunday, four troops were killed by an IED in southern Afghanistan. Until the shutdown ends, none of their families can expect to receive the death gratuity of $100,000 promised to immediately reach them within 24 to 36 hours. Grieving families also cannot expect the military to cover all the usual costs of family travel to meet their loved ones returning home for burial in American flag-draped coffins through Dover Air Force Base. And if the shutdown continues into November, monthly survivor benefits are in jeopardy because the Department of Veterans Affairs has warned it will be out of cash to pay them.
Never before has America faced a government at war and a government shutdown at the same time. Even if much of America forgets the former while enduring the latter, the grim truth of these dueling realities is that they should not coexist given Washingtons central role in prosecuting Americas conflicts.
Now, on the anniversary of Americas longest war, in Afghanistan, a battle that barely brushes against most Americans lives, soldiers heading into the fight face greater uncertainty than ever before. That includes the central question of what happens to their families if they dont make it home.

Give the families the money spent closing national parks and the Atlantic Ocean. One day of Obama’s vacation money should cover things for a year or more.
As I stated on another thread. Obama should have been questioned about this by his press prostitutes. If the Republicans policies drove this decision, he would have been questioned and he would still be berating the REPS. Not one word was mentioned and that should tell everyone what they need to know, it is his policies driving this decision and that is why it wasn’t mentioned.
Meghan Kelly doing story now.
“Generally, dereliction of duty refers to failure through negligence or obstinacy to perform ones legal or moral duty to a reasonable expectation. In other words, it means willful or negligent failure to perform assigned duties or performing them in a culpably inefficient manner. Dereliction of duty is a specific offense in military law. “ (Quote from USLegal.com).
Dereliction of duty is an Impeachable Offense, as stipulated in the US Constitution. Dereliction of duty is also a US Military offense subject to a Courts Martial.
Will our sorry Congressional RINOs do their usual kid gloves, “boys will be boys” approach to Obama’s numerous violations of the US Constitution, or will they FINALLY draw up The Articles of Impeachment for B. Hussein Obama?
