In a letter to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel obtained by CNN, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-West Virginia, shares the news that Fisher House Foundation has stepped in and offered an advance grant to families of the fallen during the government shutdown, “to ensure there is no funding gap during the most difficult of times, with the understanding that reimbursements would be made at an appropriate time.”

The Pentagon has said it cannot pay death benefits to families of troops killed in Afghanistan. This afternoon Manchin spoke to Fisher House CEO Ken Fisher to discuss what could be done to help these families....

I will not speak of armed revolution. But this sure makes one think of it.

Just don’t let gun grabber Manchin in on your thoughts. We cannot erase this man from WV’s union political machine. Maybe he will retire.
Who would have thought someone would just take care of the deserving families like that. Great demonstration of Capitalism. Not a peep about this in NYT, who should do this as a follow up story.

I hope that China is watching along with other creditors! The troops made a deal with the Federal Government that their family would be taken care of upon their death.

If Fedgov can renege on this promise, it is only a matter of time until they renege on other promises.

The Fisher House organization has been stepping up for the families of our wounded warriors for some time now without the prodding of politicians. Ken Fisher knows what needs to be done and just does it. They have one of the best charitable group ratings.

Manchin is riding on their coat tails on this one. The despicable F*****g weasel Manchin is NOT making this happen.

This is inexcusable. There is no reason that these payments cannot be made other than an order from the White House.

I cannot think of enough foul words to describe my thought on the piece of dung Golfer running this country.

The death benefit to each family of a troop KILLED IN COMBAT is less than the annual pay of one congressman

surely congress is willing to give up its paychecks to the families of the fallen

(crickets)

The Pentagon has said it cannot pay death benefits to families of troops killed in Afghanistan.

Everyone in the Pentagon involved with this decision should be terminated.
