Some Catholic priests under contract or GS (general schedule) to the military are not allowed to offer the Catholic sacraments--including saying Mass, consecrating marriages, or performing baptisms--on military property during the government shutdown, and if they do, even on a volunteer basis, they risk being arrested, according to the general counsel for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA.

The letter “P” is missing.
Sort of a “Choose this day whom you serve” moment, isn’t it...
As a Roman Catholic myself, I hope the chaplains cross the line and show the Sock Puppet who they serve.
Arresting a priest giving communion - great optics.
that’s cause their P’d off!
that’s cause they’re P’d off!
Be really fun to see Obama arrest a priest for doing his job. That’d be an awesome lesson to all of those Catholics who insist on voting Democrat that the Democrats are no friends to Catholics.
is this true for muslims too?
I wonder how pictures of priests being arrested for practicing their religion in the US of A would go over?
Reminds me of the hymn ‘Stand up, stand up for Jesus’. Regardless of religious aspect of this, if priests, vets, tourists to OUR parks (the gov’t is supposed to BE ‘we the people’, not some foreign entity or Obama’s private brown/green shirt army), visitors to our monuments, etc. don’t stand up to tyranny now, we’re done as anything other than a tinpot dictatorship.
I cant see how anyone could MISS where this directive came from.....after it emerged from the Pit of Hell that is...
Obama has just stretched the envelop a BIT too far!
“is this true for muslims too?”
Not a chance - not in obamaland.

Catholic Priests should be lining up to offer Sacraments - and to be arrested for it.
Besides being a true act of faith, it would make an excellent point as well about religious freedom.
I don’t know.
On the other thread about this, people are saying, hey, just go somewhere else, Just have Mass in the parking lot.
It’s not a concern.
It’s unbelievable.
They’d blame the priest for not bowing down.
Catholics who vote pro abortion don’t actually understand the tenets of either the Church, God’s Law, nor the value of religious freedom.
Heck, the USCCB is condoning Mexican immigrant priests’ and bishops’ publically advocating for Amnesty.
I am still trying to figure out how we the People/Peasants can be trespassing on public land that is ours bought & paid for. His Imperial PINO aches very much to give us our own “American Spring” complete with mowing down the citizenry like his comrade tyrants have done so violently in the past.

Do it anyway. How would it look if the regime started mass-arresting clergy, especially if they were being arrested for serving our troops?
Push may indeed come to shove in a place that is VERY problematic for the regime and in fact the whole stinking democrat party.
theyre playing a very risky game and this hand is going to cost them regardless of any arrests
The internet is still uncensored!!
ACTION ALERT TIME!
IM OFF TO TWEET RUSH AND MIKE HUCKABEE
If this is true, and the RC priests refuse to give the sacraments because of a government order then they’re even more culpable than those giving the orders.
The military, their families and retiree veterans, war veterans, who make the effort to get to Mass and to be with their community they depend on, know what’s going on.
Most of them are active at one point or another in the parish councils. The military archdiocese is a diocese with its head in D.C. These people not only serve on appropriations in their jobs and in the parish, but they know where the money comes from. They exact volunteers and priests and staff.
They know how much it costs to unlock the doors of the chapel and have a mass done by all volunteer, including the priest, and distribute wine, and how much petty cash to accept as donated for the Eucharist.
Not much.
They know that it costs the government more to prevent the Mass.
Bad business.
HE HAS UNDERESTIMATIFIED ALL OF US!
THEYVE CROSSED SEVERAL TOO MANY LINES AND THEY WONT GET the Desired Results..
No VIolence from our side,
“...Obama has just stretched the envelop a BIT too far!...”
We’ll see.
Nothing surprises me any more.
I know Catholics who go to Mass religiously (no pun intended), get Holy Communion and yet deeply believe that it’s somehow OK to kill an unborn infant, and had NO problem voting for this thug. Or Clinton back in the day, for that matter.
So... nothing surprises me.
We’ll see where the Chaplains’ line is drawn, I suppose. Hopefully, there’s more than a handful of Father Francis Patrick Duffys out there.

Amen! The Regime has misunderestimated the WRONG PEOPLE!
They go to Mass, but it takes attempting to live as a Catholic to be in keeping with the Church.
St. Thomas Aquinas said the Mission of the Church is to live out the Bible.
No one who is doing this can be remorselessly involved in abortion in any way, ad that means voting.
Just make sure that when they arrest you, you make them perp walk you on TV.
Whoops, “live out the Gospel”
I would hope....and PRAY that they will not bow to.....obama....
...be lining up to offer Sacraments - and to be arrested for it....”
beat to the punch!!
Have any Priests been arrested yet? Will any Priests stand up and do the right thing?
They'll still blame the Republicans.
If this is true, and the RC priests refuse to give the sacraments because of a government order then theyre even more culpable than those giving the orders.
You are exactly right.
“...No one who is doing this can be remorselessly involved in abortion in any way, ad that means voting...”
We’re on the same page.
I’m not professing to be the Catholic / Christian model of excellence either. I’m a work in progress, and fall miserably short every day. I have multiple conflicts of faith, belief, etc., with things.
But - willful termination of an infant’s life is, and always will be murder to me. And I have ZERO in common with anyone who sees that it’s somehow OK. Yeah - it IS a “choice”; a choice to murder or not to, and that’s the only agreement I have with them.
And it seems to me if folks are going to “talk the talk”, then they need to walk the walk as well.
My problem with the Church is that it’s not - and never has been - addressed from the Pulpit during election time.
Don’t want to hear about “tax exemption status” blah blah, either; you either believe it and lead, or you stand by and let it bleed.
If I remember my history correctly - and I do - the “Black Robe Brigades” were some of the LOUDEST proponents of Liberty and independence from the British Empire. They certainly didn’t worry about tax exemption status.
I think the Priests will wimp out.
On the left they would call that a "teachable moment." I would just call it 0bama unmasked.
Do it anyway. How would it look if the regime started mass-arresting clergy, especially if they were being arrested for serving our troops?
This is a direct violation of the Constitution - military base or not.
My pocket constitution spells it out very clearly.
“he internet is still uncensored!!”
Don’t say that too loud...
I sense that theres a real distinct possibility that we may experience some exteme level of workplace violence risk...which...
barrys played the joker...and the jokes gonna be on him...
It’s a problem.
Especially with the USCCB advocating for Amnesty, with no such regard.
Priests are people and they need prayers.
I do have a couple of venues that are in obedience with the Church who do speak very openly about the disaster of abortion.
They are MORE in keeping with the true Church than anyone not speaking openly about it.
it is here, where people are sociologically aware.
Abortion IS the problem.
According to Pope Paul VI, and the Vatican and Pope John Paul II in his Theology of the Body, however, and this is very inconvenient to people, and is one reason pastors are reticent; Birth control is the root cause. So they find that talking about this causes people to march out.
I know that’s no reason to not speak the truth. I have to seek out churches where the priests tell how to vote and why, and who are honest about all of this.
Anyway, they need prayers
It’s a property dispute now, being used as a hammer. Non contract personnel (volunteers) can not “trespass” a military post, by fiat Obamao.
Mass is offered off post and soldiers and personnel are encouraged to attend. I hope they do.
We’re going to go there? Really?
The Archdiocese would never refuse to give a sacrament in a war zone out of fear of the enemy.
In this case, the Archdiocese, which has rules and regs that honor the Govt WHILE it prioritizes Its Canon Law, will defer to a local parish.
All Masses and services on base are subject as is the medical system, and the commissary, to being shut down and patrons are warned to have a backup.
The priests are horrified about this, but it is, ironically, the civilian electorate which has leadership of the military. The DOD Chief is a civilian.
Please, call your congressmen and tell them, who are in charge of representing you and your military, that you won’t stand for this.
The priests and the military deserve a boatload more than blame.
UGH
I have not yet heard nor read of any such incidences but I suspect that they will be forthcoming.
They should fight their way onto the base, through the checkpoint???
Better the enlisted should fight their way off base, down to the nearest Mass.
“...So they find that talking about this causes people to march out...”
Then so be it. You pretty much know who your friends are - and aren’t - at that point. And I think that is what is needed.
I hear and understand you. I’ve just got no patience anymore for dancing around the edges, and no patience for those that do (not referencing you there).
“...Mass is offered off post and soldiers and personnel are encouraged to attend. I hope they do...”
In droves and “en masse” ...
I have not yet heard nor read of any such incidences but I suspect that they will be forthcoming.
Nope, we won’t see any Priests arrested. I hope I am wrong.
I have known Priests who would have already been arrested.
The priests’ primary duty PRIMARY duty, is to minister to those in combat.
They deploy just the same as infantry and fighter squadrons, and into the same zones.
They are ready to go over and get killed, and they do.
Their mission to take care of those at home, where other parishes preside and are readily available, is secondary.
The priests want this attended to more than we do, more than we know.
The archbishop has been all over this.
if a child needs to be baptized, any priest can do that in a minute One minute, especially if the parents will show a local parish priest that they’ve attended preparation at the military base, and have family coming in for the celebration.
PULEEZE dont’ blame the priests. It is not their doing. It is Obama. He is doing this to annoy. He’d love to have us blaming priests.
