There were no losses in the Senate in 96, so why would there be in 2014?

When they have to start actually paying for health care insurance, reality will hit them hard.

The seniors, who were usually a Democrat bloc are now going to the GOP side, they see what is happening.

Only those who still actually don't pay anything will remain Democrat.

Yes, because Dole was the GOP candidate, another establishment RINO.

You guys don't get it!

This is no longer about writing anything, the fact is that these people are going to have to pay for Obamacare, and that is a reality no writer can change.

The fact is we very much do want to alienate those who consider the Constitution outmoded and the government too small by half.

Hear,hear!

if you wait till tomorrow to fight for liberty you will lose it.

There is no guarantee republicans would win in 2014 with your strategy. I vote you fight now!

You are living in a dream world if you think that obamacare will be allowed to collapse on itself.

Pure speculation. No one knows what the issues will be a year from now and what will drive voters to the polls.

I think that you overestimate the intelligence of the low information voter. They are indoctrinated to despise Republicans, and to blame them no matter how flimsy the rationale. Will people pay? Yes, but that isn't the end of the story. They will also be exposed to non-stop coverage over what a glorious success it is, and so many sob-stories the world will see a sudden shortage of tissue paper. And many people will buy into it, even as they see their premiums rise.

Think, for a second, on how we have meekly accepted $3.50 gas. When Obama came in, it was under 2, and while it occasionally rose, this increase has been permanent. For decades, the clueless consultants assured us that gas prices determined election outcomes. And then, as in now, they are wrong. The debacle of ObamaCare will not have a significant effect on the election, at least, not once the media is finished.

This dynamic changes if, and only if, the Republicans hold firm.

Quote: “Non sequitor

R’s were winning the immigration battle and the gun control battle.

R’s lost the Obamacare battle in 2010, again in 2011 and once more in 2012.

Let the damn thing fall apart. The defund strategy has proven to be suicidial, the House is about to cave, and R’s will be routed in 2014

Some conservatives need to read more of Sun Tzu and the Art of War. Suicide missions don’t win battles, they just give you far less soldiers to fight”

Look Mr. Rove, I appreciate that you are dedicated to the notion that the “moderates” are king but the last election just didn’t live up to that billing. If Obamacare is not the hill to die on for the GOP I do not know what is.

Which Senate seat is at risk due to Senate not voting on anything? This is a tough one so I will understand if it takes a while for you to get back to me.

The reality is that they will be paying for something they thought they were going to get for free, and moreover, they have no choice!

If it doesn't make them GOP voters, it will certainly keep them home on election day.

Some of them, yes. The key dynamic in the upcoming election, however, is whether or not conservatives have a reason to show up in droves.

I take all of the stories about disillusioned democrats with a grain of salt. I know far too many of them, and they are not the most rational people. Even in the face of personal cost, they will twist themselves (or allow themselves to be twisted) in whatever way is necessary to rationalize a Democratic vote. I have already heard liberals that I know say that the only problem with ObamaCare is that the Republicans made sure that the insurance companies could gouge us. I don’t know how widespread that kind of sentiment is, but I suspect it will become widespread over the coming months.

If Democratic voters do turn or stay home, great. I am just not expecting it, at all.

This administration and Fed chair will front load whatever it takes to make Obamacare look good in the short term, I'm sure you know that. The Feds are picking up the tab until Obama is out, then the states will gradually have to take on more funding responsibility.

The Republican message all along should have been(with all the looming entitlement program issues)...(Kerry style)..."this is the wrong law, the wrong place, at the wrong time".

Too many jellyfish GOP-e types are losing it for the party with their weak message...if you don't offer a clear alternative(by just going dem-lite)...than hell, as a voter...why not just go for the FULL Santa Claus...instead of just the elves?

The brilliance of the GOP-e types was to run a war monger(McLame)when the public was sick of war, followed by an equity firm millionaire/pro-gov. healthcare(Romney)when everyone was blaming wall street and greedy financial institutions for the economic crash, at the same time fighting the Obamacare battle.....(real shrewd, huh?).

Shut it down, let people see just how dangerous it is to be so dependent(for your very existence)on Government. If America is so dumbed-down that it cannot figure that out on it's own?

...let the hell fall where it may.

Yeah, that’s Obaomao’s poll numbers are the lowest EVER.

Blunt is my Senator and he holds us in utter contempt. Spoke on the phone with one of his aides just before the shutdown. He spit the term “Tea Party” out when it passed his lips. His disdain was palpable. I will do everything in my power as a constituent to counter Blunt. He is an old paradigm establishment GOP crony-politician.

I have read Sun Tzu and I also understand what happens when a party no longer represents a majority of its members. The GOP is toast. Long live the Whigs!
A monumental party shift/shakeout is in progress in both parties. You will not recognize either in 20 years. Sane people are bailing on both parties.

By simply keeping their mouths shut and letting Obamacare collapse on itself

Obamacare will continue to collapse on itself; these higher premiums are not going away and more and more horror stories lie ahead.

No reason for the Repubs to keep their mouths shut.
