I’ve been pondering that idea as well - have all the states with republican legislatures split into two or more states, thus dramatically increasing the republican representation in the Senate. The democrats couldn’t do a thing to stop it...

Well, yeah, they could.

Requires a majority vote in both houses of Congress, and the Democrats control the Senate.

And I suspect quite a number of Republicans and even conservatives would object. While it is in perfect compliance with the letter of the Constitution, it pretty clearly violates its spirit.

And, of course, the Democrats could follow suit in states they control.

Congress and the President would have to agree to more states.
