Just 51,000 people completed Obamacare applications during the first week the Healthcare.gov website was online, according to two sources inside the Department of Health and Human Services who gave MailOnline an exclusive look at the earliest enrollment numbers.

The career civil servants, who process data inside the agency, confirmed independently that just 6,200 Americans applied for health insurance through the problem-plagued website on October 1, the day it first opened to the public.

informavoracious :" Is this website only or paper applications?
I have a feeling many of the Obamacare “winners” don’t have or know how to use a computer."

In order to apply for "Mengele-Care ™” , it has to be done online at the unsecured website (no https//).
'Navigators' are hired folk (with no criminal background checks) who will take your written information, and they will post it later online at the website.
Or , you can do it yourself at the website .
Health and Human Services constantly reminds 'Navigators'to not leave written confidential information laying arround for fear of theft.
Navigators will be making approximately $15 - $28 per hour , and come from unions , community action agencies, ACORN, and contracted individuals.

Yeah , like there will be no identity theft !!
And nobody watching the 'Navigators ' to see how they handle the confidential information ?
And as though it was a totally secured website , and perhaps no hackers are electronicly camped out to see what information they can snatch !
This is a FUBAR waiting to happen.
What IDENTITY THEFT , the government will assure that everybodys information will be accessable worldwide, and we will all die BROKE !
Count on it !!

When the goal is government authority over We the People, numeric results are a mere distraction.

Washington 916

Washington State is over 10x that even if you don't count Expanded Medicaid. From a Tuesday NBC article:

Washington state said 9,452 people have fully enrolled in coverage set to begin Jan. 1. Most of them, about 8,500, are going to be covered by Medicaid, the government insurance program for low-income people, with the remaining 916 covered by health plans sold by private insurers through the online state marketplace.

Another 10,000 people have completed applications for coverage from private health insurers through the exchange but have not yet paid for it. Exchange officials said they believe that many, if not all, of those people are waiting until December to make their initial premium payments, as Dec. 15 is the deadline for payment receipt for coverage to begin Jan. 1.

"The number of applications we've received is a strong start to our six-month open enrollment period," said Richard Onizuka, CEO for the Washington Health Benefit Exchange. "While we've seen a high level of initial interest, we know that individuals will continue to shop and wait to purchase a health plan until much closer to the effective start of coverage on Jan. 1, 2014."

This is merely a stepping stone to a “single payer” option. They WANT “Obamacare” to be fraught with problems so they can offer and ram through the “fix” - SINGLE PAYER.

I think you're right. But I also think they wanted obamacare to be a slow, managed failure.

In fact, it's turning out to be a sudden, spectacular failure, which undermines confidence in obama and the dems. The republicans need to recognize this and keep the heat on the dems.

That’s total Bull-loney. Not sure when the Brits decided to go into the tank for Obama, but based on EVERY single source from this side of the pond - there is no way 51,000 people could get past that FUBO excuse of a website and get enrolled by now.

Actually they could have but they didn't. Most people elect to get "Qualified" or "Registered" with the Obamacare system before they actually "Enroll" and put their money on the line. On the average very few of those who "qualify" immediately enroll in the system. They may at some point but right now only 5% to 10% of the "Qualified" applicants appear to be doing so. It could be that price is holding them back or perhaps they just want time to think it over. Who knows?

The 51,000 certainly represents "Qualification" or "Registration" and not "Enrollments". At most that translates to something like 2500 to 5000 people signing up for Obamacare the first week. That is certainly possible.

And just for your future reference, a total of 38,462 people need to "Register" and "Enroll" EACH DAY for Obamacare to be considered a success. At this point that is not looking very likely.

UK reporters have sources on the inside but the American media doesn’t? LOL!!! How embarrassing!

Maybe US reporters are afraid of making Obama look bad...

Your numbers are correct.

I'm only counting Obamcare sign-ups and, as you stated, 916 is number that Washington claims.

But you make a point that is being overlooked by a lot of people. This push to move people to Obamacare is, in all likelihood, going to move many more to Medicaid. That's why the Feds are pushing the States to expand Medicaid programs. Most but not all resisted that temptation.

The question is: will these Medicaid sign-ups count toward the Obama goal of 7,000,000 in 6 months.

I'm betting no but I could be wrong.

If that just under 51,000 enrollment number is correct, and that’s a BIG IF, I have just one question.

How many of those 51,000 were able to access their accounts again, hmmmm?
