House Republicans say they'll go for a temporary extension of the debt ceiling in exchange for a "real commitment" from President Obama and Democrats to talk about the nation's pressing problems.
At a news conference Thursday morning, House Speaker John Boehner said Republicans are ready to "move half way -- half way to what (Obama's) demanded."

Is the strategy the GOP is pursuing here to give six weeks for America to flush the sewer bass called Obamacare?
Trying to find something optimistic here. Obamacare is going down by the bow - Healthcare.gov - timing is debatable since the MSM can’t seem to find the website.
Let see now, what was the definition of insanity again ?
If the gov’t stays shutdown then I could live with this.
People in OH must be putting the pressure on him to cave even though they didn’t need to do so. He would cave sooner, rather than later, to borrow a line from his pal, Bill Clinton.
The only thing optimistic thing I can see here is that the administration and his party have been exposed (once again) for the scum that they are.
This may help during the next election.
I’m getting a feeling of deja vu. Isn’t this how we got the sequester, Dem tantrums, and a very successful reduction in spending during the last debt ceiling fight?
Willing to watch and wait this one out in hopes of the same results this time.
Doesn't work in boxing, won't work here.
Called his office several times. Same old shuck and jive. He is a puppet for the GOPe. His little show of standing strong was all just Kubuki theater to give conservatives some hope and relieve some pressure. He is a back stabiin traitor to conservative principles.
I'm not so sure. I caught a little of Rush today and he made the point that the CR will continue and the House will continue focusing on obamacare.
I think the Pubs also keep the "reasonable" position in the image battle. The Pubs are never going to be treated fairly in the media, but it's hard to blame them when the Rats won't negotiate or pass small funding bills for veterans or kids with cancer.
A RINO is always a RINO. He better have his own KY jelly.
