Haley Barbour was a big disappointment to me.

He was supposed to be what the GOP was all about. He was a former RNC chairman. We were told that the fight was in the state governorships, so Barbour became governor of the reddest of red states, Mississippi, instead of running for the Senate to replace weakling Trent Lott.

Barbour stood out after Katrina with how Mississippi used self-reliance to repair afterwards, while Louisiana's governor Blanco declined to run again and New Orleans mayor Ray Nagin is now on trial.

But something got to Barbour. His career didn't end up where I had hoped it would.

Now Sununu...

Throughout the summer of 2012, Sununu kept saying "wait and see... Romney is waiting for the August doldrums to finish... nobody is paying attention now... he doesn't have funding until after the conventions..."

And then what? As far as I'm concerned, Sununu is a failed advisor. He shouldn't be listened to. Add Rove and Barbour to that list. Throw out the old, bring in the new.

Rove, Barbour & Sununu are GOPe/RINOs and need jettisoning, or the party will never get anywhere under their influence. They have a lot of people under their collective thumbs. GEs and Mid-Terms are the only way to get “their people” out of office, and break the influence of their old-money PACs. It’s going to take a long time to do it, but there’s no other rational, legal choice.
