NBC/WSJ Poll: The Agony and the Ecstasy (Rush Limbaugh's "must read" analysis)
RushLimbaugh.com ^ | Oct 11, 2013 | Rush Limbaugh

Let's just get into this NBC/Wall Street Journal poll that just totally turned Washington upside down yesterday....The poll that shows the Republicans literally getting killed over the government shutdown...

Now, keep in mind just two days ago there was an AP poll that showed Obama at 37% and we're still hearing crickets over that poll.

People have looked at the internals of the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, and it's 800 people. The spread of Democrat to Republican is 43 32. So 43% in the poll are Democrats, 32% are Republicans. That's an 11 point difference there. That's not representative at all of the makeup.

Polling is no longer a reflection of public opinion; polling is the creation of public opinion. Polling is an effort to manipulate and move public opinion.

An excellent analysis by Rush.

Also note it's a poll of adults, not registered voters, it oversampled Democrats and government workers:

"The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted Oct. 7-9 of 800 adults (including 240 cell phone-only respondents), and it has an overall margin of error of plus-minus 3.5 percentage points."

Cruz scoffs at NBC/WSJ poll: ‘That’s not reflective of where this country is’

http://firstread.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/10/11/20924466-cruz-scoffs-at-nbcwsj-poll-thats-not-reflective-of-where-this-country-is?lite

“Cruz also asserted that the poll’s findings were undercut by the fact that nearly 20 percent of the poll’s sample were government employees — and therefore, according to Cruz, inclined to oppose the shutdown and support President Barack Obama.

“I’ll note that that poll was very heavily weighted with an awful lot of Democrats with an awful lot of Obama supporters and 20 percent of the people polled were government workers,” Cruz said. “

And Republicans, who should know better panicked and are caving...

Read it and weep...

House GOP Blinks: Will Lift Debt AND Reopen Government

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/10/11/House-GOP-Caves-Will-Lift-Debt-AND-Reopen-Government

“The revised GOP plan reflects the demands Obama made in a meeting with House GOP Leaders on Thursday. It also reflects the unwillingness of the DC GOP to face a fiscal showdown with Democrats.

Aside from reopening the government and agreeing to raise America’s debt over the current $16.7 trillion limit, the Republicans made several other concession to President Obama and the Democrats. One such example is that Obamacare would receive funding. The Republicans would get to take out a portion of the president’s signature legislation, but the law would substantially remain intact. The AP reports:

Under a proposal she and other GOP senators have been developing, a medical device tax that helps finance the health care law would be repealed, and millions of individuals eligible for subsidies to purchase health insurance under the program would be subject to stronger income verification.

In addition, some of the across-the-board “sequester” cuts would be reversed under the GOP plan. It has not been determined which specific cuts will be targeted at this time.”

I knew that poll was a crock!!

Thanks for posting the REAL story. As usual, the left cooks the numbers to achieve a desired result.

Oh, great. So our genius GOPe leaders are actually going to help Obama fix Obamacare by removing some of its worst provisions. Shoot. The Democrats themselves probably want the medical device tax removed. Making small changes to improve the law’s worst aspects makes it much less likely of ever being repealed.

Giving up on the medical device tax is throwing half a crumb to the Republicans, while keeping basically ALL the Obamacare — control of the population.

Ben Carson: Obamacare worst thing to happen to the U.S. since slavery

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/oct/11/ben-carson-obamacare-worst-thing-slavery/

“It is slavery because it aims to make all of us subservient to the government,” he said. “It was never about health care. It was about control.”

Dr. Carson further compared the new health care reform to policies envisioned by Vladimir Lenin, one of the fathers of socialism and communism.

“Socialized medicine is the keystone in the establishment of a socialist state,” Dr. Carson told the audience of some 2,000 supporters of traditional values.

Compared with the intrusion into everyone's personal details, and the IRS enforcement, the device tax is a drop in the bucket. This ain't over. The only good thing about the shutdown ending is that Issa's committee will be calling and subpoenaing these IRS crooks.

In a few months [just in time for primary season and tax season], enough low-info voters will start to realize that the IRS can withhold their refunds, and will continue to get sticker-shock at the premiums they thought were 'free'.

That's when momentum to repeal will be revived. At least, there will be many chances to gut the law until it becomes a limited safety net program for only the high-risk patients.

Finally, let's not forget that there are still lawsuits challenging parts of Zerocare that will make their way to the Supremes. If the SCROTUS continues to uphold this farce, then any Donkey Senator in 2014 or 2016 can be attacked as a potential vote to confirm more socialist judge nominees.

The media is doing its best to push the idea that the shutdown is the Republican’s fault using poll data. Not surprising they will do this. This is the Alinsky method that makes people believe they have the popular support.

Romney lost by less than 4%. Hard to make a case for this being a legitimate mixture — though I don’t know the numbers on gov’t employees — maybe it is 20% now.

So true, but can you believe the crap that’s coming out on FOX news these days? They are so into these polls it’s unbelievable, with no attempt at analysis at all. The way things are these days, if someone asked me what I thought of the Republican party I’d be against them as well—because they aren’t supporting Cruz and Lee! The attempted media manipulation is so evident right now it would be laughable, if it wasn’t so obvious and creepy. It is becoming increasingly evident that FOX is not much different from the rest of the news organizations. Strings are being pulled, and not for the good of the country either. Follow the money, as always.

Whenever I see a poll with a margin of error greater than 1.5%, I know it’s BS.

Most households with a government worker would have one additional family member of voting age, perhaps more than one. I would guess that, on average, there is one additional family member of voting age. So of the 20%, perhaps 10% are the actual government employees.

I don't see the problem with that methodology.

Hannity was going through those polls tonight. He says they are beside the point that Obamacare is causing serious harm to the country.

Someone, for some unfathomable reason, switched the cafeteria TV to MSNBC a couple of days ago, and they were fairly slavering over this poll yesterday, never entertaining the slightest possibility that it was skewed, that it was anything other than Gaia’s own gospel truth. It was so annoying I had to leave halfway through my lunch.
