Ohio Insurance Director on Obamacare Glitches: ‘This Is What We Expected’

Ohio Lt. Governor and Insurance Director Mary Taylor told a group of small business owners on Wednesday that the state insurance office struggled to send information about Ohio’s health plans to Washington by computer this summer and they began bracing for problems, the AP reported. “This is what we expected,” she said of the “glitches” with the website for the federal exchanges. Ohio chose not to set up a state exchange, instead directing eligible citizens to the federal exchanges.

Taylor told Ohio members of the National Federation of Independent Business that while exploring the federal health exchange website she experienced the same problems that many consumers have reported. “I’ve been on,” Taylor said. “The note that comes up to be patient, high volume — experiencing high volume of users. You know, it is frustrating.”

Taylor’s office is suggesting that people try the new website during off hours. “Maybe if we all get up at midnight and try to get on the system — well, if we all do, it won’t work,” Taylor quipped to the business owners.

Taylor, a frequent critic of the Affordable Care Act, also said she doesn’t know how many Ohioans have enrolled in the federal exchanges because Washington is running them.

On October 4th, Taylor and Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine warned of scams associated with the new exchanges.

“Scammers often pretend to be associated with the government to make their ploys seem real,” Attorney General DeWine said. “We want to warn Ohio families to be on guard for potential scams and to take steps to protect themselves.”

“It’s imperative Ohioans understand the facts about the ACA and the federal exchange so they can best protect themselves,” Taylor said. “Because the federal law and the exchanges are new and complicated to consumers, Ohioans should be even more cautious about potential scams and fraudulent behavior.”

They said bogus websites purporting to be part of the exchanges have been appearing online for more than a year. They look like the official website and attempt to collect personal information by asking visitors to complete online forms to receive subsidies and insurance policies. They also warned of scammers posing as Navigators, as well as identity thieves asking people to give up personal information in order to receive new Medicare, Medicaid, or Obamacare cards, which are not required by the new law.

“We want to warn Ohio families to be on guard for potential scams and to take steps to protect themselves.”

Unfortunately, we are now legally obligated to participate in the scam.

I think it’s going to implode very fast. I’m not worried about non-compliance. They’ll have it so messed up that they won’t be able to sort it all out.

And I’ve heard that hackers are already having a field day and hacking is going to increase.

Yeah the county doesn't have the ability, nor IT folks to make a system work so they farm it out to Canadian softwarepucks....

The Congress Critters worry about the next election but fail in the basic oversight function they were elected to perform.

Anyone who would vote to reelect any of these fools regardless of party is not only a fool themselves but a enabler in the down fall of a once great nation.

Not a single one of these idiots deserve our vote to reelect ...Ill vote for Cruz on the top of the ticket in 2016 but fire the rest of the b*stards

Says a lot when a government official expects things to be f*cked up from the get-go.

I just checked healthcare.org again at 6:37 am, assuming that no one in their right mind would be trying to sign up, and got the following message:

We have a lot of visitors on the site right now. Please stay on this page.

We're working to make the experience better, and we don’t want you to lose your place in line. We’ll send you to the login page as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience!

Apparently there must be millions signing up at 6:37 am!

The glitches are purposely put in place to selectivley separate the needy (them) and the not so needy (you). Redistribution, dont ya just love it. Your paying for a car you will never drive but they will have control over your every move

——“glitches” -——

a euphemism for “endemic failure”

The arithmetic of Obama care where most states rejected establishing exchanges coupled with no viable federal exchanges in those states yields the near certain value of less than enough participants signing up to yield sustainability.

Those not having Employer provided insurance will still end up without it and be penalized in the process. Through no fault of their own They will be harassed by the IRS

Then there is the employer provided insurance. For that to work, there must be internet based communication channels between the insurers and the government. It seems certain that channel does not presently exist and the current debacle forces the conclusion it will not be there next year.

The conclusion is they hired a lawyer to do a coder’s job

Left wing journalists are working overtime to blame the Obamacare train wreck on red states who did not set up their own exchanges.

But reality is that blue states who did set up their own exchanges are having every bit as much trouble getting them to work.
