7 hours ago Obama: “This is not normal” Posted by CNN's Gabe LaMonica

Washington (CNN) - President Barack Obama on Saturday said House Republican agreement over the need to raise the debt ceiling and reopen the government, without agreement over how long, was a “positive development.”

Both Houses of the United States Congress are in session this weekend, and in his weekly address, Obama told members of the House and Senate to “pass a budget, put people back to work, and end this shutdown.”

The President, who updated a group of nearly 150 top U.S. business leaders on Friday on the conversations he has had at the White House since Wednesday on reopening the government and removing the threat of default on the nation’s credit, said small-business owners have “lost contracts, lost customers, and put hiring on hold” as a trickle down result of the partial government shutdown.

President Obama said “it wouldn’t be wise,” to temporarily raise the debt ceiling. “Kicking the debt ceiling can down the road for a couple months” would damage “America’s sterling credit rating,” he said. The GOP House has proposed raising the debt ceiling for six weeks, and though the United States lost its Standard and Poor’s triple-A credit rating more than two years ago - on August 5, 2011 - Obama called it unwise to “flirt with a first-ever intentional default right in the middle of the holiday shopping season.”

“This is not normal,” said the President,

Disgusting isn’t. The Dems project their failures on to the Repubs. The Repubs buy it.

In other news it is reported that “U.S. Adds Two Times More Debt than Economic Output in Last 2 Years”.

Not normal indeed.

>> The Repubs buy it.

They act as if they’re operating in a vacuum with no outside support. But that’s obviously ridiculous. So they’re either delusional, lying, or perhaps unwilling participants.

What is not normal is that such an evil entity, a black racist, marxist, radical homosexual that hates white people, America, Freedom, Liberty and the US Constitution is elected twice and has so indebted our Republic that we stand on the precipice of economic destruction while he uses saul alinsky tactics to try and blame anyone and everyone else but his demon self.

No, what he means is the 100 million dollar tax payer funded, 3 week, Hawaiian Christmas vacation, for his friends and family season. He couldn't care less about anything or anyone else, he won!

Why the rush, Obumbles? We haven’t had a budget since you were inaugurated in ‘09, thanks to your henchmen in the Senate. Besides, a budget is so yesterday, when you can spend whatever you want out of your “stash” by decree.

My hunch at this point is unwilling participants.

Contrary to what a lot of the FR meme, hitting the ceiling will have consequences and some pretty nasty ones at that. While the President and the Treasury have a fiduciary responsibility to prioritize payments the truth remains that we are still spending beyond our means.

And...this would mean under the law...austerity cuts must be determined by the House. Given the fact right now we do not have any adults to negotiate with on the left, given we do not have a democrat party willing to be honest about what needs to be done, given that the press refuses to be the government muckrakers and get the truth out to the Americans ....republicans are really up against a wall.

People still want to believe we’re a “rich” nation and that simply is not the truth. The $225 billion isn’t enough to pay all the bills of the government. So ...since Congress is vested with making the laws that create payments of the debt according to the 14th Amendment...what do they need to do? Sit down like adults and create a budget, create what gets cut and guide the good sinking financial ship to port.

Looking at the situation, I do not see that happening any time soon. So is the answer to have the captain(President) commit suicide and let the ship sink and put all the crew(State) if lifeboats?

In both scenarios a lot of folks are going to get hurt, there is a lot on the table whether people here on FR want to slow down a moment from the meme and think this through. Please note the either way the ship is sinking and the only way to get to port is for there to be a ‘good’ captain. WE do not have a good captain. WE don’t even have a good crew.

I agree with the President, the only thing kicking the can down the road does is extends the stress. His answer is an American Express card with no limit which will only sink the ship faster. His answer is kicking the can down the road ...REAL far this time...like until Feb. of 2016 LOL.

The only way out of this is job creation, business creation, and expanding the tax base(not increasing taxes). NONE of which is even being remotely discussed as it is the President’s policy that has stagnated the country.

Once gain he lies. No one in power is hoping for a default except for the Democrats. He tries to trick the public by equating not raising the ceiling with defaulting. Defaulting is not paying interest or principal. /preaching to the choir
