I’d bet they hardly sold ANY Obama Christmas ornaments. I’d buy them when an R was in office, but damned if I want an Obama Christmas tree ornament. I tend to think most who actually celebrate Christmas didn’t want one, either.
For all the talk of his celebrity, as I think of it, all the Inaugural souvenir t-shirts/mugs/key chains, etc. just did NOT sell. By Feb/Mar 2009, the local stores were loaded up with that crap and couldn’t give it away @ 75% off. His supporters probably wanted it for free.
One can only assume that they WAY over-ordered oBamster merchandise and pretty much had zero Ted Cruz trinkets.
Apparently the free market does still work in the U.S. in certain limited circumstances.

If one could get an inexpensive wholesale lot of these things at the bankruptcy auction, I’d bet they’d be a real hit at local gun ranges.
My first thought when I saw the story was, How are people even getting TO the gift shop these days? My second thought was, maybe you’re failing because who the heck want’s an Obastard Christmas ornament?
Seriously, the White House gift shop has become a tragedy.
Obama actually used it to insult the British.
The British ambassador had presented him with a fine desk, made from the timbers of a famous anti-slavery ship. He responded by having one of his toadies run down to the gift shop to give the British ambassador a couple of model replicas of the presidential helicopter.
It was about as bad the second time, when he gave the Brit, whoever it was, a box set of recent American movies on DVD, after having received a fine quality desk set worth thousands of dollars.
He is a rude pig.

Naw, my favorite was the iPod pre-loaded with his speeches. That was the most insulting gift ever given.
Oh, I forgot to mention: The DVDs you mentioned were North American formatted and can’t be played in Europe.
That was a gift to the queen, who is nearly deaf. The videos were to someone who was nearly blind. Go figure.
On top of this he screwed up a toast to the queen.
I have no use for royalty but when you’re a “head of state” you gotta have your crap together when dealing with other heads of state!
