House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan lashed out at Senate Republicans for interfering with the House GOP’s talks with the White House to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling, suggesting his colleagues on the other side of the Capitol were betraying Speaker John Boehner.
“They’re trying to cut the House out, and trying to jam us with the Senate. We’re not going to roll over and take that,” Ryan told reporters. When asked if he felt “double crossed,” Ryan said “you look at the facts and draw your own conclusions.”
Senate Republicans, led by Senator Susan Collins of Maine, are negotiating with Democrats on a package to reopen the government and lift the debt ceiling into next year with relatively modest concessions for the GOP.
Ryan said House Republicans only learned the details about the plan this morning, and added that he strenuosly objects to it. When asked which parts of the plan he objected to, Ryan said there are “too many to go into.”
One of the most significant differences between a House framework sent to the White House late Thursday and Collins’ plan is the length of time it would extend the debt ceiling. Boehner has put forward a six-week extension, while Collins’ plan has been reported to extend almost until February 2014.
At a closed-door meeting with House Republicans minutes earlier, Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor offered a similar message to their colleagues.
“We need Senate Republicans to stand up and stand firm,” Cantor said, according to a person in the room.
Boehner said that in talks between the two sides, Obama had agreed to nothing and said the House would be holding its position for now.

One group Paul Ryan never seems to get angry with is his “Democratic friends.” Remember how his mentor Jack French Kemp used the term “our Demmocratic friends” ad nauseum.
If I were on the other side, I would be laughing at the hapless Republican politicians.
Obama and Reid have maintained their position at a solid "no compromise".
The Republican surrender monkeys are fighting with each other to see who can sell out the most or the quickest.

Yeah. Enough is enough. There's no one in Washington willing to protect or even speak up for the tax payers - those who are being used as slaves so everyone else can live a relaxing, comfortable life (especially the elite politicians. They like their limousines, mansions, and caviar brunches).
Methinks the House-cavers are pissed because it appears the Senate-cavers may cave before them.

I have a little different take. I think the path we are on will lead to the same outcomes they saw in Argentina. Most people don't know that Argentina in the early 1900's had a per capita income equal to that of Germany and their economy was growing at a faster rate. However 100 years later German living standards are more than double that of Argentina. What happened?
See if this sounds like the USA today. Argentina was very dependent on it's agriculture internally and for exporting. The school system was terrible and over 20% of Buenos Airies population was illiterate. After WWII the demand for their agriculture products dropped and their workforce could not adapt to newer industries. In response the public supported Peron and the collectivists followed a path of fascism creating a huge welfare state in the process. Economic decline accelerated and the poor who wanted to be richer could only do so by taking wealth away from the shrinking group of entrepeneurs and wealthy.
I think this is the trend in the USA and surrendering on obamacare will guarantee this end. I quess I should be happy I won't see the end result, but my future grandchildren will and that is why I'm mad.
Ryan worked for and models himself after Jack Kemp. Kemp was the happy warrior who mistakenly believed that supply side economics would trump all.
Ryan, like Kemp, fails to recognize there’s a crony capitalist class and a welfare class, neither of which believes in limited government and low taxes.
At least some people are starting to understand that their premiums are being jacked up to pay for someone else's health care. What they don't understand - yet - is that those jacked up premiums are also going to take care of illegal aliens.
Republicans who are weak still don't understand that by caving they are acting against their own self interests and that they imperil the future and freedom of their own families and friends.
It sure does put a light on why one of the supposed young turks in the Pub party appears to be trying to shift the fight from obamacare to better management of big govt.
Ryan’s plan exchanges Obama’s silly and punitive hissy-fit cuts (closing parks, shutting down gov websites) for long-term entitlement reform and re-writing the tax code.
It’s exchanging a small can of potted meat with prime rib.
But, you say, it doesn’t get rid of Obamacare, the monster sitting at your front door.
No. Maybe a concession (medical device tax, delay till the website works), but no defunding. The monster sits there, growling.
The reality is that without enough Senators to overrule a Presidential veto, Obamacare cannot be defunded at the moment. You need to get rid of the monster, but you need a weapon with enough power to kill him, not just make him mad.
That happens next year, if all the whiners can see the big picture. Take permanent entitlement cuts and revision of the tax code today, take the Senate next fall.
Let that Obamacare website get up and working. Right now, it’s a joke. When it’s working and people see how it affects them, it will be a nightmare.
I may not like Boehner or Cantor or others in House leadership, but giving up seniority and majority would be suicidal stupidity.
Ryan is a pragmatist and a good guy. I will never agree with him, or any politician, on everything, but we must quit eating our own if we hope to rescue this country.
The 2014 elections are critical. Opponents of this administration must stop bickering and trying to destroy one another, or we are all doomed.
Wouldn't it be grand if th GOP had a health care plan to replace Obamacare incorporating a way to eliminate free health care for uninsured.
The Senate disagrees with that, and so do I.
End these constant "crisis-es" every 6 weeks, or 3 months! Stop this.
It is bad for our country, and for our economy.
For Pete's sake, the House had months to go to Conference after the Senate passed a budget last Spring. They did nothing. Then Congress went on a 5 1/2 week "vacation" last August and September, knowing full well they had this mess on 1 Oct.
Enough of this garbage.
Just looked up his voting record, Ryan voted for the $700 billion bank bailout, the biggest Medicare expansion in U.S. history, a massive highway bill that included the “Bridge to Nowhere” and the Obama 987B stimulus bill!

With this sentiment its almost easy to sit back and let it all go down, I mean it. Keep spending, keep giving free stuff to illegals and to those who refuse to work and let them eventually really find out what it is like when there is no government left to turn to.
