I don't like point fingers on here, but the point is this: People have been consuming milk long before Louis Pasteur. So why is Louis Pasturer remembered and revered? Because once he invented the pasturization method tens of millions of lives have been saved.

You forgot to mention that Pasteur made the production of milk profitable for many farmers, since many people who previously avoided drinking milk began to do so once they knew it was safe.
