I love this picture.
Thank you so much for setting the record straight. Dwight Eisenhower was a patriot, and one of the greatest presidents, contrary to all the vile Democrat propaganda constantly heaped on him.
What is Carville's role in any of the present situation?
this was about the clunton administration, and he’s just scum.
I have read references to the use of arms in the past which is why I used the terms I did in my original post.
However I can't find authoritative references on the net today so concede that point.
But there is no question that under the direction of MacArthur, Patton and Eisenhower the power of the army was turned against vets and civilians and they were brutalized in other ways.
It is a matter of record that they fired tear gas against the vets and that officers did beat them with the flats of their sabers, causing severe injuries in many cases.
And there is no question that they burned the Vets and their families out of the hovels they had built for shelter.
I have read that many were hospitalized with severe injuries from the use of sabers and tear gas and that others were severely burned in the fires - some of whom later died from their injuries.
The reason I made my original post was to point out an instance in our past where military force had been used against veterans and civilians, and that it is not improbable that it could happen again.
After all, even such well respected patriots as Patton and Eisenhower (and their subordinates) were not above following orders to use force against unarmed and innocent vets and civilians.
There is not much doubt that President Obama has packed the military with people more loyal to him than to the country or the constitution, or that he would hesitate to use the military in the same way as Hoover and MacArthur did back in 1932.
