Principal shuts down Pledge of Allegiance (Govt shutdown?)

ALLIANCE — A western Nebraska high school that didn't recite the Pledge of Allegiance one day last week because of the partial government shutdown won't be doing that again.

On Oct. 7, Alliance High School Principal Pat Jones told students they wouldn't be reciting the pledge that day, pointing out that the federal government has been partially shut down since Oct. 1.

Some students were outraged by the decision, and one woman said her son stood up in class and recited the pledge anyway.

The school in the Nebraska Panhandle city of about 8,500 has about 500 students.

On Monday, Jones declined to comment and referred questions to the district superintendent, Troy Unzicker.

Unzicker said Jones hadn't cleared his plan with administrators beforehand, but Unzicker said he soon heard about it after school board members started getting calls and emails from parents. Near as he knew, Unzicker said, all the calls were critical of Jones.

Under district policy, time is set aside each school day for teachers to lead their classes in the pledge. Unzicker wouldn't say whether Jones had been disciplined for the apparent policy violation.

Jones did get students talking about government, the superintendent said.

"There were some positive aspects that came out of it, but (skipping the pledge) is not something we will do again," Unzicker said.

Kudos to the kids who saw right through this crap. The “principal” should be reprimanded for this stupid move. Show anyone where federal dollars are used in reciting the pledge?? Its just as stupid as closing down an un-staffed, open-air park or memorial.

From wikipedia on Ted Cruz

... Cruz has authored more than 80 United States Supreme Court briefs and presented 43 oral arguments, including nine before the United States Supreme Court.

...Cruz authored a U.S. Supreme Court brief for all 50 states successfully defending the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools, winning 9-0 in Elk Grove Unified School District v. Newdow.

The idiot principal really thinks that the Pledge of Allegiance is about the government?

So Jones thinks:

1. people are pledging allegiance to the government or administration of the particular time?

2. the flag represents the government not the people and when the government is partially shut down, the people do not exist?

3. the government is somehow separate from the people and owed allegiance that the people are not?

I'm not going to stop anybody from reciting the Pledge. But not only was the Pledge written by a socialist, if patriots would actually think about the "one Nation, " and "indivisible" words that they say when they recite the Pledge, they might wise up to the idea that it is state sovereignty-ignoring, pro-federal government propaganda.

Note that Thomas Jefferson had indicated that foreign nations were to regard the states as one nation, while citizens were to regard the states as independent nations.

"The true theory of our Constitution is surely the wisest and best, that the States are independent as to everything within themselves, and united as to everything respecting foreign nations." --Thomas Jefferson to Gideon Granger, 1800.

More than 120 years of schoolchildren reciting the Pledge has arguably helped the federal government to become the unconstitutionally big monstrosity that it is today.

America has not been shut down, yet. But Obama fully intends that it be so. Fundamental Transformation is underway and ongoing, in more ways than we can imagine.

Well ill be damned,, I never knew that about the author of the pledge. I just read about Bellamy, his politics, and the salute he invented. He was fired from the pulpit for preaching socialist sermons. There are creepy photos of kids doing his Nazi style salute towards the US flag.
That became unfashionable in 1941.

Food for thought to dig into that.

That’s all true, but we didn’t put up with his socialist BS for long. We customized it - even added “Under G0d”. Do some homework and you’ll see.

Public school principals are Democrats.

Let me be more clear.

ALL public school principals in the ENTIRE country are Democrats.
