Detectives said that John Rose, 82, and Mamie Rose, 83, were in their home when a man tried to break in. John Rose shot the man when he entered the home.
The sheriff's office said investigators have been unable to identify the suspect, but he will face burglary and trespassing charges. He is currently in a Salem hospital.

Several possibilities
1. The old man shot the guy in the mouth and he can’t talk.
2. He left is ID at the voter registration office thanks to those nasty Republicans
3. He was an illegal alien who hadn’t been to California to get an ID
4. He was hoping that if he got stopped a lack of ID would prevent the cops for discovering he was in violation of his parole.
Unable? or politically constrained?
Thank God the elderly couple made it OK.
It sounds like something he'd do.
It tells me that old John stopped shooting too soon.
The guy is 82, he probably went to take a nap after.
