5 Reasons Even Backers Should Want ObamaCare Delayed
Investor's Business Daily ^ | 10/14/2013 | John Merline

Last week, CNN's Wolf Blitzer made waves when he opined that the ongoing problems with ObamaCare might be reason to delay the program.

"They had three years to get this ready," he said. "If they weren't fully ready, they should accept the advice Republicans are giving them, delay it for a year, get it ready and make sure it works."

Blitzer later said he was only referring to the ObamaCare exchange website. But as the rollout continues, there's increasing evidence that an across-the-board delay would make sense — even to supporters of the law.

I don't understand what good delaying the individual mandate does. So, we kick the can down the road and deal with it later? Haven't we been doing alot of that in the last few decades? It's better people know right now what obamacare is.

It is hoped that delaying the mandate squelches the obamacare blowback to make it easier for the Democrcats to get past the elections next year. The Republicans who are pushing this think that reducing the Republican majority in the House will make the remaining republicans easier to control.

Stop wasting time and political capital.

Forget about delays or tweaking.

Let the nation feel the full impact of ObamaCare as it was designed by the democrats.

Why help them look better?

The nation is going to suffer from Obamacare one way or the other.

The sooner people realize what the democrats have done to them the sooner some of them will come to their senses.

I’m pretty sickened by the insurance companies. They will go the way of the buggy whip and I’m not quite sure they realize it. Americans won’t put up with substandard insurance either, they will go cash and the exchanges/socialized medicine will be for the uninsurable and carry a HUGE tax burden for the rest of the country. Obama will go down in history as the man who destroyed the best healthcare on the planet and people will spit on the democrat party forever.

Completely, totally agree with you.

The Republicans need to get out of the way of this mess - don’t defund it, don’t delay it (for anybody) . . . let the country see what our Congress has given us. What it costs, what it breaks, etc. This is what we need to run on next year to take back the Senate. Instead, we continue to “negotiate” from a position of weakness without the Senate or Presidency. I’m not sure this is a winning strategy - I’d rather expose Obamacare for what it is, and what it costs. I think we can win the general electorate running against that, be we need to have the public feel that pain.

I see it that way too.

Plus - anything the reublicans do to alter ObamaCare will give democrats an opening to claim that it was republican meddling that caused ObamaCare to become a disaster.

As do I. I've been saying from day 1 that the best option for truly getting it defunded is to allow it to go forward. The narrative from the DNC has been people voted for Obama and thus Obamacare. The GOP should let them see first hand that elections have consequences and push strongly for 2014 and defunding.

As a liberal journalist pointed out: The best thing the ACA has going for it right now is the GOP distracting people from the disaster that is the ACA. It would be the only story out there.

The GOP: Too cute by half and not ready for prime time hard-ball politics. Now the Dems have moved the goal-posts in the negotiations with sequestration...and can move back to the original demand and claim compromise. GOP is amateur hour.
