Posted on 10/15/2013 7:53:53 AM PDT by Nachum
Many Americans shopping for better health insurance deals promised by the two-week-old Obamacare system are instead being slapped with rate shock, including savings-sapping deductibles and co-pays, according to multiple reports from around the country. For some able to get the problem-plagued Obamacare website to work, the so-called deals the system is coughing up around the country include $12,600 deductibles, co-pays of up to 40 percent, zero competition, and rate hikes of 260 percent. The huge cost increases that some Obamacare applicants are seeing are feeding the effort in Congress to change the system and delay implementation until January 2014. "This is why we´ve

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
This must be one of those “guaranteed coverage for pre-existing conditions” policies.
So THIS is what government-controlled, “free” health care is like...
And joy spread throughout the land.
Nicolle Wallace (theoretically a Republican) was on MSNBC —she wasn’t sure how she felt about Obamacare — she quoted her husband who had asked “what do we hate about it?”
Abolish Obamacare, Boehnercare, and RINOcare, by keeping the damn US Federal Government SHUT DOWN !
Remember how the liberals said Bush lied people died???
Can’t we say Obama lied??? He said if you like your doctor and healthplan, you could keep them. He said the average cost savings would be $2500 per family. He said there would be competition among health plans in these exchanges.
Many things said by the liberals are turning out to not be true. I hope we have good ammunition for 2014 and 2016 election campaigns.
Nope, a regular “silver level” plan. The calculator above will show you options.
I mean if we had some "never worked, inexperienced, teat financed community organizer at the wheel, we would be in real trouble..............
Oh, wait a minute?
Uh, delay until January 2015?
I wonder if these Exchange policies qualify as HSA-enabling HDHPs? (Health Savings Account, a tax-protected spending account, which requires the holder to have a High Deductible Health Plan). The thing is, Øbamacare deductibles are far in excess of the requirement. Furthermore, with a huge deductible, why bother with insurance at all when the only time it would be of use is if you have a catastrophic illness?
These horror stories are especially designed to do what they are doing. Obama and his liberal tyrants have no intention of keeping this system in place.
They are banking on a widespread abandonment and ignoral of everything Obamacare in this next year, and the media willing, the Democrats scheming and the creek rising, he will spearhead the new single-payer mandate through the new Congress which he is betting the farm to be Democrat.
To be fair, he never said who would realize the family savings?
“this must be one of those pre-existing condition policies”
Which anyone could have gotten through a regular insurance company
for a higher rate! People have always been able to be insured for a high
risk rate!! I will tell you that the high risk pool is a hell of a lot less than
this government fiasco!!! JUST ANOTHER LIE by this administration!! It
WILL crash people are going to be furious!
How can any middle-class household living paycheck to paycheck afford a $12K deductable if there is a pre-existing condition? This is essentially no coverage at all but it costs you hundreds of dollars every month.
I love it.
“There is little uniformity to premiums charged around the nation. For instance, Kaiser also reported, Cigna is offering 50-year-olds one of its midlevel plans for $614 if they live in Flagstaff, Ariz. That same plan, contracting with different hospitals and doctors, will cost $428 in Phoenix and just $395 in Nashville.
Huh? The more I read about this fiasco the more confusing it gets.
Do not fret over the high deductibles, BOA will gladly lend you the money at a competitive rate!
How does 18% sound. They can't rape the college students any longer as they have no jobs, so it is up to the rest of us to carry that load.
Nice job pelosi, reid and obama did for us isn't it? I gusess I should say did to us. This is obscene. Nobody spends $12,600 for health care unless they've been hospitalized. So unless you're going to the hospital you get to pay $300 (at a bare minimum, probably more like $1200-$1500) a month for your insurance and then on top of that 100% of your medical costs! Outrageous!
This is why the obamacare sites aren't working. They don't want these stories widespread while the shutdown is going on. This will turn people against obama by the droves. His attacks on the Constitution don't matter to many, many people but when they realize he's attacking their wallets they'll get angry! It's a shame it has to be like that but there you have it.
People will go throught their savings and have to sell their houses to cover these expenses. This isn’t income redistribution - it’s wealth redistribution to give free health care to illegal immigrants and the welfare class.
I agree that Obamacare was designed to fail so that the Public would clamor for a FIX. Soetoro and his minions want nothing less than a Single Payer system as the End Game. However, it can’t wait until the next election because no way will the Dems win back the House of Representatives. They could lose the Senate. No, my Fellow Americans, we will get Single Payer through Presidential Executive Order and no one in Congress will do anything to stop it...wait and see...
Good question. Given the government's opposition to HSAs, they've probably excluded them if they thought of it, or will have HHS write a rule as soon as it crosses their mind.
With this kind of plan, anything short of a heart transplant is going to be paid for in cash - after paying the hugh premiums. If the point is to make as many people as possible unhappy, I'd say they're succeeding!
Patients (must) Pay Before Seeing Doctor as Deductibles Spread
“the average cost savings would be $2500 per family”
When I heard that imagine my disbelief since my HSA policy was only $4500/yr. ($5100 deductible, $8M limit) Now, since this fiasco has taken effect, it’s jumped to $12,100/yr. ($5100 deductible, NO limit according to PPACA)
The system is DESIGNED to FAIL.
If it doesn't get delayed, it would seem to me they would have to extend the enrollment period past Mar 31 if all the SNAFU reports are true. After Mar 31, they are locked out until the next enrollment period which is October 2014.
When will We The People march on DC?
“.....delay implementation until January 2014.”
How does that help anything?
Even the Obama press sycophants are starting to see what a train wreck this is and they are also realizing that there is no easy fix.
It won’t be long before Democrats start to worry over this mess reflecting on them in the 2014 elections. Pressure may start to mount on Obama to delay implementation until after next year’s election to avoid a repeat of 2010.
Political animal that he is - he’ll succumb to the pressure.
Based on the calculator provided, my premium has only gone up 270%. Yeah!!!!!
It’s not designed to fail. It’s designed to take as much money as possible from the hard-working, productive, honest, law-abiding citizens and give it to non-productive slackers, dope-peddlars with pockets full of cash, criminals, and other democrat voters.
I have done some math and research. If I read the law correctly, EVERYONE is suppose to sign up and get an account so the IRS can make sure each and every citizen has health insurance either through our master or through an employer.
If you are not signed up per the mandate, you are subject to the IRS penalty/tax, correct?
Well now, they have no mechanism to collect the fine from you in the form of a check, unless you are due a refund on the taxes you paid in any given year. It will take a few years for the collective zombie citizenry to figure this out.
To avoid having to sign up and not get hit with the penalty, you need to make sure you have no refund to confiscate each year. So put some $$$ away so you can write the govmnt a check each year.
It’s a complicated thing, so somebody correct me if I “misunderstand” this law with it’s 11,200,000+ pages (including the rules).
‘Many Americans shopping for better health insurance deals promised by the two-week-old Obamacare system are instead being slapped with rate shock, including savings-sapping deductibles and co-pays’
People who didn’t have health insurance before didn’t have it because they couldn’t afford it. They will not be able to afford it now and instead will have no health insurance and a ‘tax’ penalty for their transgression.
Most are ObamaBots and they will be angry!
How does that help anything?
It doesn't, it just makes us more dependent on the government as all these Insurers re-tool to accommodate Obamacare. At some point, we will not be able to go back because there will not be providers to cater to individuals. At that point we'll all get to go to a one payer system and we get to stand in line (but just the lower and middle class). The wealthy will hire their own doctors and pay far less than us peasants.
It's like a virus. The longer you have it, the sicker you get. It's why this fight was the last chance. And we lost it too.
Hands up. How many people are shocked?
Let’s see. Uh huh. There’s uh... I’m not seeing any hands.
-— Cant we say Obama lied??? He said if you like your doctor and healthplan, you could keep them -—
No. That’s silly. Everyone knows he means the opposite of what he says.
I was telling someone at work that the day Obamacare becomes fully implemented is the day I will no longer have health insurace of any kind. Nor my wife. I see it as a health care insurance brick wall.
I also think even trying to pay for health care out of pocket is going to be difficult. Especially with “good” doctors retiring early and the rules that will prevent them from taking my money to help me and my family.
Have you ever been behind a person who was denied the use of a $1 coupon at a grocery store and scene how it almost comes to blows, imagine the effect of steeling a large percentage of the savings of the average American. The ones most likely to own weapons and know how to use them.
Is their any likelihood that the Military would stand with the Federal Democrat weasels against their mothers and fathers in the general populace? Hardly!
-— he will spearhead the new single-payer mandate through the new Congress which he is betting the farm to be Democrat -—
That’s the problem. Congress will not be Democrap for the foreseeable future. Until then dissatisfaction will grow exponentially.
I'd rather say Obama Bin Lyin
Could you post this?
A new ‘unintended consequence’ of ObamaCare is people are being asked to pay their bills BEFORE they see the doctor:
Patients Pay Before Seeing Doctor as Deductibles Spread
It is not that it was designed to fail, it wasn’t designed at all. It was a Senate version of a bill that was only intended to get the House and Senate into a conference where a real bill would be designed. It was cobbled together with bribery and threats by the Reid to individual members of his caucus and passed with parliamentary tricks and illegal maneuvers.
I think, also, that the subsidies are payed out as tax credits. So if you pay no tax, you get a refund check? Or do you get nothing?
With insurance companies sending out cancelation notices for non conforming policies I don't see how they can totally delay it now...
ALL policies offered under Obamacare are "guaranteed coverage for pre-existing conditions" policies.
Similarly, all men must purchase maternity coverage. And everybody has to be covered for sex change operations. Same for AIDS treatments. Et cetera.
We have a winner. All these hopey-changey dumbshits, once they've gotten over the sticker shock, will soon discover the difference between "coverage" and "access".
