On Oct. 7, Alliance High School principal Pat Jones told students they wouldn't be reciting the pledge that day, pointing out that the federal government had been partially shut down since Oct. 1. Scottsbluff television station KDUH reported that some students were outraged by Jones' decision, and one woman said her son stood up in class and recited the pledge anyway.

... just trying to teach the kids about socialism, teacher's unions and the need to print money!
Anyone willing to set aside their pledge to the United States does not deserve to be a High School principal at a public school. Pat should look into Berkley, Havana, Pyongang, etc. for a relocation opportunity.
We need to publicly ‘flog’ these individuals that worship their paycheck(s) and do not serve the people.
Start web lists and target them for firing campaigns around the corner. Remove them from their jobs and assign them to janitor status.
Terminate her employment —
Any reason to indoctrinate children with anti American leftism is a good reason, just as stupidity seeks to expand stupidity.
Shut her down.
Terminate her employment
She’ll get tenure...
Did he shut down the federally subsidized meal plan, too?
‘Remove them from their jobs and assign them to janitor status.’
In many unionized public schools the janitor position is a six figure salary.
Government school is child abuse.
*Government school is child abuse.*
Probably the truest words about current public education ever printed!
Oooops — forgot that one.
Superintendent Troy Unzicker said Monday that the principal hadnt cleared his plan with administrators, and students were again permitted to recite the pledge.
Unzicker said the district heard from parents about the principals decision, and he said he believed all the calls or emails opposed the decision.
That is Shirley Jackson Lee & Hank Johnson kind of stupid.
Permitted. I think that they probably can’t force the kids to do it.
Alliance High School principal Pat Jones, is a nice little Gestapo want-to be!
Maybe if she wishes she could be promoted to IRS Navigator.
Nebraska has a rule from the state board of ed. Districts that don’t comply put their accreditation and stare funding at risk. This principal went off half cocked and I am sure immediately caught an earful from the Superintendent.
No question about what this principal was yanking on!
The principal is a he.
Well then terminate him too — for impersonating a female.
I can remember a time not so long ago that it was unheard of not to recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Any teacher or principal who doesn’t lead the Pledge has no business educating our young.
To them I declare: It is possible to love your country and hate your government. I am proof of that.
But since when can a school prohibit a child from reciting the pledge if he/she wants to?
As an aside, isn’t KDUH just about the funniest call letters in the country?
The parents should shut the damn school down until High School principal Pat Jones is fired or resigns.
Apologies should ever be accepted for such treason.
