Let's begin with a complication: The House Republicans' counter-offer is still in flux, with conservative sweeteners (regarded as poison pills by Democrats) in the mix to be tacked on before a vote. Changes, added demands, and recalcitrant members could alter the landscape considerably over the next few hours. All that being said, the GOP's basic framework is awfully close to Reid's plan. And yet:
Reid went thermo-nuclear on the potential House proposal -- sight unseen -- because it reportedly differs slightly from his preferred route. He's busy negotiating with Senate Republicans, who, last I checked, are in the minority. House Republicans are the majority in their chamber, so not razing their ideas to the ground every two seconds might be productive conduct for a leader who's actually interested in a good-faith resolution to the current crises. Harry Reid's behavior is making an unprecedented technical default likelier, and is ensuring that the government shutdown he helped engineer will carry on. His antics even surprised center-left MSM journos like MSNBC host Chuck Todd:
Todd: Really surprised Dems are trying so hard to trash this House GOP plan as much publicly as they are. Again, not that diff from Sen compromise

Meh. Wahteva. F’em. Don’t raise the debt ceiling. Let DC live “only” on $3 Trillion in revenues, instead of revenues plus new debt.
I think perhaps Harry and Obama (Jarrett) just finally want this final crisis to start so they can order their new toys pointed against us. We’ve been too restrained and not falling for their goading so far, and it’s taking too long to get rwii/cwii started.
Right! No increase in the debt ceiling means a balance budget. The government lives on just what’s coming in this month...sort of like the rest of us!
I heard about the plan this morning..it gives Dems everything they want, the debt ceiling gets raised, it gets rid of the taxes on medical devices(Something Dingy Harry himself called “Stupid”), but here comes the kicker..at the bottom, it mentions how Obama, Biden, and everyone in Congress would have to be covered under Obamacare and then I said “Oh no wonder the Dems are against it” Dems love Obamacare, but they dont want to be covered under it..they want to force Commiecare on US but they want to be exempt..its hysterically funny watching Dem after Dem go after this bill when its not about the bill itself, but them being forced to have Commiecare
What’s to stop them from sneaking that part out later? Or just do as their leader does — ignore what the words say.
Then goes on and on about what the Democrats have so condescendingly done etc., etc.

It bothers me the Republicans are not saying and if they are, are not getting aired ... the same complaint.
The Senate has proposed a bill that cannot pass the House, Will not pass the House ... etc.
Shut it down and let's play with broken sticks.
Oh I have no doubt they could take it out later..but its just funny watching them make a fuss about it because they dont want to admit the REAL reason they are against it, because they dont want Obamacare forced on them..forced on us they are fine with, but forced on themselves they are against

What Reid and Obama are doing is called “Russian Negotiating.” Go violently and unbendingly for your solution and broke no compromise. It’s actually very effective. It forces all the give to be on the other side and since there’s something coming up that forces the issue it’s effective. If Reid is willing to take the country into default and the GOP isn’t then he’ll win virtually everything he wants. (This is like negotiating with a terrorist who’s holding your child. It’s the Democrats who are the “terrorists” here.)
I’m getting worried for the first time. They are getting too close for comfort to making a deal.
The only decent deal is no deal.
It’s finally dawning on the journolisters that Dems don’t want a deal.
I forgot the most important aspect about Russian Negotiating. You should never, never indulge in it with somebody you’ll need a working relationship with later. It destroys any trust. All negotiations should be win/win. Reid has plenty he could give up and still gain Obamacare. For example, they could agree on national concealed carry licenses. Yes, that would piss off the Dem base, but if it fully funded Obamacare the base would probably be mollified.
Dingy Harry is against anything that originates in a Republican-led House... for that reason only.
Pray and Buck Them Up. I just emailed the Speaker because at this Historic point in time, he is the only one who can uphold the Constitutional authority of the People’s House of Representatives against the usurpation of both parties in the Sentate, not to mention the executive branch. The future of our Replblic is at stake, and all Congressional Republicans as well as the Speaker need to be reminded of this WITH OUR UNFAILING SUPPORT!
