Question: If Ted Cruz and John Boehner were both on a sinking ship, who would be saved?
Answer: America.
Harsh? Look around you at what is happening to America and you will see harsh. I am not talking about closed parks and monuments. I am talking about the funds cut to nearly 9 million mothers and young children for food, breastfeeding support and infant formula.
That is harsh. Making a war against babies is harsh. And for what? Because Cruz, Republican senator from Texas, has grown so drunk on the sound of his own voice and so besotted with illusions of his own grandeur that he believes halting government today will propel him into the White House tomorrow?
As The New York Times ably pointed out, this shutdown did not just happen. It was plotted for months by a coalition of more than three dozen conservative groups led by Edwin Meese III. The groups were funded in part by the billionaire right-wing Koch brothers, who wanted to cripple Obamacare. (Koch Companies denies it has supported using the shutdown as a tactic.)
You remember Meese. He was Ronald Reagans attorney general, who was forced to resign in the Wedtech scandal while under investigation by a special prosecutor. Today, Meese sees himself not as a sleazy hustler but Americas savior. And he wants to save us from health care.....

This guy certainly is enjoying his 15 minutes of fame. I’ve seen more pictures of him this week than of Miley Cyrus.
I was going to harshly criticize the article, but then realized it is written by Roger Simon (= ignore list) .....
Never mind, not worth my time.
Sending an entire country into a depression/financial collapse by overspending?
That’s harsh.
And yet the fool that wrote this article wants to make babies have much worse health-care that their parents will hardly be able to afford.
This same fool wants to fund babies being aborted against the will of hospitals that are against abortion.
The halwit needs to take a kindergarten level class in logic.
This is what is HARSH: There are many millions of hard-working, patriotic Americans, who have paid taxes for years and years. Contributed to society in many ways including raising great offspring who have served in the military, also work and pay taxes...paid their bills, participated in their communities, donated to charities, etc. But for many of us hard-working, tax-paying Americans, we will NEVER be able to retire due to our hard-earned money going to pay for all of these welfare programs year after year, and it is never “enough”. Then all the public employee unions are coming around with their hands out, looking for their retirement plans to be bailed out, due to their “sacrifices in public service”, many of whom will retire at young ages, go on for second careers or double-dipping, etc. We paid our own way, we paid for our own children, bought all their diapers and food, paid their medical bills, have never taken any public assistance (but should not be faulted for taking in a time of need). I have been quite angry lately, after working all my life, and seeing the abuse and fraud in the entitlement systems, along with the attitude of so many of the recipients. Perhaps some time of actual struggling will enhance their characters in a way that will promote more self-sufficiency in the future.
(Rant suspended until the next time....)
Can someone identify where this nonsense is located in the Constitution?
Didn't think so.
If the Liberal answer is "general welfare clause" then the 2nd Amendment means I can own and carry a silenced machine gun nationwide.
“I am talking about the funds cut to nearly 9 million mothers and young children for food, breastfeeding support and infant formula.”
WIC is just one program of many REDUNDANT welfare programs sponsored by the state and paid for by money requisitioned from taxpayers. No mothers or babies starve in the US, but these programs have helped destroy marriage, morality, and the family while encouraging illegitimacy and buying votes for the Democrat party. Good riddance, even if it’s temporary.
Rog cares about those on food stamps, doesn’t give a Shiite about those who have to pay for those food stamps.
Who was that a-hole, and was he sincere, or a libtard plant?
When I saw the headline, I thought the Redskins were on the warpath!
If nearly 9 million mothers and young children are on the government teat, is America worth saving?
to quote Star Trek TOS:
“a tin-plated overbearing, swaggering dictator with delusions of godhood”
Hey Roger Simon - I’ll make you a deal. I will personally take care of any baby formula needs and/or starving people in my neighborhood. They won’t need the government and won’t go hungry. Are you in for your neighborhood? Or are you just blathering, like usual?
he’s just a parrot spewing what he’s been taught. He has no mind to think up something concrete.
That’s just WIC. That isn’t counting food stamps, TANF (”welfare”), government cheese, free school lunches (and breakfasts, dinners, snacks, Summer meals....), food banks, etc., etc..
And last time I checked the Republicans were the one who were shot down when trying to fund these very programs that the dems have enslaved so many on.
The indentured servitude that the dems place on people is the real harsh issue. Enslaving the future of the productive to destroy the future of the people who have lost hope.
If I help someone it will be family or a vet. Maybe a few others but it won’t be the fat chick who bought 5 mountain dews in front of me last we.
We ended up this way because the Dems were able to buy voters with entitlements, but we also forgot to keep an eye on what corporate America was doing. Taking China and India whose work force in the 1980’s were less skilled and spending a decade teaching them and bringing them up to par with our workforce so all our manufacturing jobs and now IT jobs can be shipped overseas. Talking about an instant poverty program for middle class America. Taxed to death by socialist gov and deprived of good paying jobs by corporate America. Now corporate America wants pathway to citizenship for all illegal immigrants and more H-1B guest workers while at the same time refuse to hire American college grads and lay off American workers. Yep bring in illegals who will land jobs where the salary is so low that they qualify for food stamps and subsidized healthcare. The other half of illegals are skilled workers who over stay their 6 month visa and working underground as accountants, technicians, skilled trades, etc etc at cut rate salaries while American kids cannot even get jobs they hold. Taxpayers subsidize it all while corporate America only pays the lower salaries and pocket the difference for themselves and inner executive circle. You cannot make this up. One day historians will study the US and wonder how the majority middle class allow the gov and corporations enact policies that killed it.
White Girl Bleed a Lot
Call da Amberlamps
Knock out Game
Ima kill me a white boy
I wuz bored-shot a white boy- Ain’ No Thang
They can stick their Rebel flag bleats up their ass
Yeah, that’s “Harsh”
Makes one wonder how previous generations ever survived doesnt it?
When we, the “majority middle class” are all gone, who will pay for all the stuff?
Thank yhou for your post. An astute analysis of certainly the labor/employment market evolution.
Has anybody actually identified this knucklehead yet? I mean, I keep expecting to read where someone followed him back to his Leaf and watched him drive away.
The point is to show the stupidity of their rhetoric. Nobody in this country is going to starve to death. When is the last time anyone has heard of that happening?

So says the white elitist a-hole who has never left his little ivory tower!

Over at Politico, Roger Simon has written a fairly trollish bit of analysis, which leads off with what he calls a joke about how America would be better off if John Boehner and Ted Cruz drowned. It goes on with the usual clichéd drek about the shutdown being racist and so on. No doubt many liberals think its right on target. But thats not what interests me. Simons column reminds me of a point Ive been making for years. Most mainstream journalists roll their eyes at the idea the MSM is biased. Its a tired argument, I know. But its simply remarkable that when supposedly objective reporters move on to the opinion column racket they reveal themselves as utterly conventional liberal Democrats. When any longtime New York Times reporter rewarded with a column at the Times or elsewhere Nick Kristoff, Bill Keller, Maureen Dowd, Anthony Lewis, EJ Dionne et al. rips off the mask it turns out that they were exactly as liberal as conservatives suspected. Its like that Saturday Night Live skit where Obama takes off his Obama mask to reveal that hes Barack Obama.
Just going by the law of averages, some of these reporters should turn out to be conservative or libertarian or at least ideologically heterodox. But it almost never happens. Indeed, when the Times needs to find a conservative columnist (Bill Safire, David Brooks, Ross Douthat) it always has to hire outside its own shop.
Roger Simon Wishes Death on Ted Cruz, Accuses Him of Waging a ‘War Against Babies’
By Geoffrey Dickens | October 14, 2013
In his Monday column Politico’s Roger Simon unleashed an anti-GOP rant where he accused the Republican Party of letting “racism out of the closet,” accused it of waging “a war against babies” and wished death on two of its leaders Ted Cruz and John Boehner.
In his column headlined “Government shutdown unleashes racism” Simon wasted no time in attacking Republicans by putting his twist on old anti-lawyer joke: “Question: If Ted Cruz and John Boehner were both on a sinking ship, who would be saved? Answer: America.” Simon then went on to accuse Cruz of “making a war against babies,” as seen in the following excerpt:
He forget his Redskins jersey and Chick-fil-A cap.
Seriously, what’s the problem with the flag?
Who had all the signs printed up and barricades ready to go on day one? That would be the White House. Not Ed Meese III or the Koch bros.
Oh yea, FURS!
how does that saying go, “Why do you hate me, I never tried to help you.”
In the early 1980s, when one of the many debates over passing a helmet law in Maryland was raging, he wrote a “commentary” in the Baltimore Sun in which he (not facetiously) encouraged car drivers to intentionally run over motorcyclist and/or run them off the road. Apparently, a biker had once said something mean to him.
Question: If Barack Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John McCain, Linda Graham, Barbara Boxer and Hillary Clinton were all on a sinking ship, who would be saved?
Answer: The World.
Two can play that game.
agitprop
Probably the latter.
BTTT
Pass a budget next time, Harry.
You think her not helping you is bad I can beat that.
I once helped a family who needed food so I bought them some. They then told my wife she should leave me because I was working to much. You see it was the time of the year when I was working 90 plus hours a week to set aside for the winter when I might work 15-20 hours. To top it off they were sitting around watching TV most of the time instead of looking for work. Just took my wifes word that they needed help.
