The Kos Kids Learn About Obamacare
Power Line ^ | October 15, 2013 | John Hinderaker

Posted on 10/15/2013 7:17:28 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

This is very funny. A Daily Kos regular gets his Obamacare premium notice and is shocked to learn that as young, healthy people, he and his wife will pay twice as much!

"My wife and I just got our updates from Kaiser telling us what our 2014 rates will be. Her monthly has been $168 this year, mine $150. We have a high deductible. We are generally healthy people who don’t go to the doctor often. I barely ever go. The insurance is in case of a major catastrophe.

Well, now, because of Obamacare, my wife’s rate is gong to $302 per month and mine is jumping to $284.

I am canceling insurance for us and I am not paying any f***ing penalty. What the hell kind of reform is this?"

Good question!

"Oh, ok, if we qualify, we can get some government assistance. Great. So now I have to jump through another hoop to just chisel some of this off. And we don’t qualify, anyway, so what’s the point?

I never felt too good about how this was passed and what it entailed, but I figured if it saved Americans money, I could go along with it.

I don’t know what to think now. This appears, in my experience, to not be a reform for the people.

What am I missing?"

You’re missing the whole point of Obamacare, you poor sap. A reader enjoys the spectacle:

The whole POINT of Obamacare was abolition of private catastrophic-only health insurance for the healthy, forcing them to underwrite a double subsidy: a means tested, open-ended premium subsidy for the less affluent covering comprehensive insurance, and a health status subsidy forcing them to subsidize premiums for the sick–irrespective of either of their means!

What did they expect? Weren’t they paying attention? Or maybe it’s like Animal House–but with Obama saying “you f***** up…you trusted us.” LOL!

Stick it to every one of them.

Sadly, the comments on Daily Kos suggest that most young leftists have still not seen the light. The consensus is that the poster needs to get his mind right. In the old days, it was said that a neoconservative was a liberal who had been mugged by reality. Today’s liberals are apparently so obtuse that they can be mugged by reality–or by Barack Obama–and not notice.

The rest is “giverment.”

Moron Alert. Name me one time the government saved Americans money? Americans save money by not letting the government get their scheming little brownshirt hands on it.

I actually feel a bit sorry for these kids! They represent way too many of our young today - uneducated and born followers. They have bought into the Democrats line and will now be facing the consequences.

Unfortunately, too many of of us will also be brought into this nightmare and can do little to change the future except vote! Wake up!

“I will sign a universal health care bill into law by the end of my first term as president that will cover every American and cut the cost of a typical family’s premium by up to $2,500 a year.”

Back in 2008, we collected over 50 promises Barack Obama made about health care. He kept many of them, including signing universal health care into law and closing the doughnut hole for Medicare Part D.

When it came to health care premiums for the typical family, Obama said he would cut the annual cost by $2,500. Months before Obama took office, a New York Times reporter dubbed it one of the most audacious pledges of the campaign.

We reached out to David Cutler, an economist who advised Obama during the 2008 campaign and helped calculate the $2,500 figure that appeared in Obama’s speeches. He said the calculation encompassed total health care costs, not just premiums. These would include out-of-pocket costs, employer-provided insurance costs, and taxes to pay for public insurance programs.

Cutler acknowledged that Obama made “occasional misstatements” that tied the $2,500 reduction to premiums and not total medical spending. We can’t judge whether Obama misspoke, but we checked the Project Vote Smart database of public statements by politicians, which shows that Obama said premiums (and only premiums) would go down for the typical or average family by $2,500 repeatedly.

ACA is Legal Extortion
(Snip)
Beware the unintended consequences of using govt power to achieve social goals.

In our particular case, my wife and I, age 60 and 62: health insurance is rising 129% on Jan 1, 2014. So much for affordable care for all Americans and “keeping your doctors.”

The Blame goes to us for complacence, to Obama for lying, to Kaiser for greed and corruption, and to modern progressives in general for using fascist means to achieve social goals.

The bite will occur when they start forcible collections. This will happen in the late summer of 2015. The manner of extraction will be a program that matches all gov’t data with a IRS computer that has no mercy.

No they're, not. And you'll be pretty surprised to see just how QUICKLY transplants are going to be dropped from coverage.

A heart or liver transplant can cost in the neighborhood of a million dollars.

These people are very shallow and ignorant of basic economics but that is not a concern to me. What is a concern is that they have empowered a government that wants to take my earnings, control my life, and make me less safe and less healthy. That makes them dangerously ignorant. However, they are still a far cry from wisdom. I will be content for now if they merely acknowledge that their opposition, the conservatives, have a legitimate point.

The phone calls will come.
obamacare is intertwined with the IRS and DHS.
IRS has already targeted Obama’s political enemies and the DHS has defined Americans who disagree with him as terrorists.
When the KOS kids start bitching on facebook, the Obama goons will be listening.
I wonder what the obamabots will do when they figure out that their dear leader is working to destroy them?

In my observation, Californian liberals are way under-taxed. They cost all Americans a fortune by voting and promoting expensive ineffective gov’t programs and the most destructive policies on earth. They need to pony-up to cover the expenses of the rest of Americans who suffer from their ignorance and misdeeds. They have gone so far into la-la land that I would not be at all surprised to wake up and discover that liberal Californians were demanding that government provide free fairy dust to everyone.
