House Republicans on Tuesday narrowed their attack on Obamacare to the issue of fairness, insisting that President Obama and his top political appointees all have to buy their insurance through the Affordable Care Acts exchanges as part of a new bill to end the government shutdown and extend the federal debt ceiling.
GOP leaders hope to put the bill on their chambers floor for a vote later Tuesday, with little time to spare before the Thursday deadline the Treasury Department has set for when it will run out of maneuvering room under the current $16.7 trillion debt ceiling.
The new bill would give the Treasury borrowing authority through Feb. 7, and would include stopgap funding for basic government operations through Dec. 15.
The key change would be to force Mr. Obama, Vice President Joseph R. Biden and their top political appointees into Obamacare, and to withhold government subsidies from them and from members of Congress and their staffs, who were already forced into Obamacares exchanges.
Republicans argue that lawmakers should face the same conditions they are foisting on average Americans including not being able to get help from their employers to pay premiums...

What about the unions? Shouldn’t the knuckledraggers have to suffer along with the rest of us?
More importantly, force ACORN Redux aka the Navigators, who are except under section 1555, into Obamacare! (May have section number wrong - there is an article on FR about it.)
Pointless theater. Why pretend to bring him down to our level. Bringing everyone down to the same level is the wrong direction, it’s classic socialism.
That sounds like a great start. If we have to have it, so should everybody.
Shouldn’t people have to live under the laws they sign or pass?
I enthusiastically support this move.
If you want this, then vote for it.
But don’t scam out on everyone. Vote for it.
Or else we need another plan B.
(where is the House, with their bill anyway...)
And let’s not forget the muzzies.
They too have received concessions from the ‘Unidentified Wan’, so I hear.
Reduction is a classic tactic of Rhetoric.
Socialism didn’t invent it, and doesn’t own it.
What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, where I come from.
I think you miss the point.
The only option is to put the Rats on record that they support their Ruling Class perks over the threat of Default.
There should never be any Waivers or Exemptions, and the Republicans have to hang that around the neck of Obama and his fellow Communists.
We do not own the Media, and it shows when people still believe that it is somehow the Republicans fault that the so called Default is here. Obama and Reid get away with Murder day in and day out.
I want the congressional staffers to have to suffer the full effects. Many of them wrote the damn law; let them enjoy the fruits of their labors. I don’t make 6 figures, most of them do, yet they get a 75% subsidy? No deal until that is done. We have to get something; our guys control 1/2 of 1/3 of the govt. Plus our guys need to buy some ads to let it be known WHO will not negotiate. If they started doing that I’d really consider breaking my boycott (est. 1996) of contributions to the RNC. In fact, the RNC’s lack of decent, hard hitting ads for Doyle is the reason for my boycott.
Eliminate all of the exemptions Obama and Sebelius have allowed the past few years. Just like Obama made the Veterans hurt at the memorials, make the Obamacare supporters hurt for supporting it. Let them reap what they sowed.
Knuckledraggers? What is that supposed to mean?
Defaulting on the debt would be better than the hyper inflation that will surely come from printing 80 billion dollars every month. Devalued currency hurts the people while default hurts the spenders in government. Shut it down.
Neanderthals. You know. Thugs.
Never gonna happen.
Most union people I know are in skilled trades. More than any other class of people they built the world. Hiring them from the union hall I found it easy to get highly-skilled people, and they did great work because it was really easy to dump the bad apples. From what lofty position are you qualified to judge them as neanderthals?
Republicans should diminish the government’s contribution to the employee health plans by $2,500. It’s only right that in these tight times, the government should be able to recoup the amount the pResident promised would be the amount saved. There’s no good reason to overpay.
They think all union members are stupid, lazy obamatrons who didn’t work a day in their lives.
I worked with UAW union members. There were almost all lazy, stupid Obamatrons.
From the postion in which unions like the SEUI have demanded exemptions for themselves while they were happy to support Obamacare for everyone else-all the “little people” while they escaped it, after mouthing their support for it. If they think it’s just peachy for the rest of us, then it should be good enough for them.
I agree with you 100%
After some thought, I’ll go even further. As an Army brat I got to know this country pretty well: high school on the east coast, undergrad in the Midwest, grad school on the left coast.
These union people were some of the worst people I’ve ever known. There were some exceptions of course but as a rule, they were the worst.
Boehner will bring the Senate bill to vote today without a majority of the majority supporting it. We are hours away from witnessing the Republican House Majority surrender the constitutional power of the House to control the purse strings. In effect, killing our constitutional republic and installing a democracy, i.e. mod rule. It’s a downhill sled to tyranny from here.
Yes but this is the situation:
Luke 11:46 And He said, Woe to you also, lawyers! For you load men with burdens hard to bear, and you yourselves do not touch the burdens with one of your fingers.
You’re right.
