HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
One lawmaker in the eye of the storm that is the government shutdown offered his encouragement to residents in the Tennessee Valley Tuesday night.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz spoke at a dinner held by the Huntsville Republican Women. He gave a speech and then took questions from the crowd, via a video link from Washington.
Cruz had been scheduled to appear in person but the turmoil in Washington kept him there. During the event, Cruz took the opportunity to blast the Obama administration on a wide range of issues.
"We're seeing the constitutional rights of law-abiding citizens consistently set aside. And then there is the Tenth Amendment - the restrictions on the power of the federal government and protection of the powers of the states - which has been violated so consistently by this administration, but never more egregiously than by Obamacare," Cruz said.
Cruz went on to discuss the explosion of the national debt in the past five years, saying the amount of money the federal government is spending and borrowing is irresponsible, and will bankrupt future generations of Americans.
Alas, a man with a set.
I am concerned for him; keep him in your prayers.
Now Ted keep in mind please.
We need to control our debt, but we also need to control our trade deficit.
Our major trading problem right now, is China.
Speak about this. Think about this. Help America.
Constantly
Ted Cruz does not blast anyone.
He speaks clearly and on subject.
Exactly. Like Harry Truman, he doesn’t ‘give anyone hell.’
He just tells the truth and they think it’s hell.
The guy is unflappable IMHO.
