Josh Hargis, an Army Ranger severely injured in Afghanistan last week, was thought to be unconscious during his Purple Heart ceremony. He lost both legs and was hooked to a breathing tube at a military hospital in Afghanistan.
The bedside ceremony began and, while he still presumed to be unconscious, the Ranger struggled with an attending doctor to raise his heavily bandaged hand to salute a commanding officer presenting him with the medal.

While we have men like these there is still hope for this country.
His father told the station that the troops had just inspected a man for bombs, and then a woman came by and exploded. While the troops were responding to the explosion, other IEDs planted in the area detonated, including one Hargis stepped on.
The antithesis of the Communist/Socialist/Marxist/American hating Commander-in-Chief.
How the politcal upper echelon can live with themselves after reading about this hero, is beyond me. Too many of those power hungry soul mates of Barry that don’t have the courage and love of Country that this man has.
Encourage everyone to read the short story.
This young man demonstrated courage, conviction, and patriotism that makes America great. He’s a reminder of how greatful Americans should be of our Armed Services.
This is also an example of American exceptionalism- get over it Obama. We are a great nation in spite of socialist race baiting JA’s like YOU.
Damn blurry monitor...
This brings tears to my eyes and awe to my heart!
Took a while for mine to clear up.
While we have men like these there is still hope for this country.
Contrast him with the current resident of the white house, and we can see how far our country has fallen.
Seems like there is little to be proud of as an American these days. Its good to be reminded there still are.
I going to sound like a hippy, but this war is not worth the lives lost and impacted. This war is only about the Democrats making good on campaign rhetoric from 2004 and 2008 about Iraq being the “wrong war at the wrong time”. It was disingenuous argument to be against the war in IRAQ to appease the anti-war element, but still looking strong on National Defense. Democrats never thought they would actually have to fight a war in Afghanistan. Troop should not die for the RATS to save face. Bring them home.
Incredible story...
Have to admit the over-dramatized narration (FoxNews?) was distracting.
...let it be about him, please...sheesh
RLTW
You DO NOT sound like a hippy to me.
You sound like a real American grounded in reality.
Awesome Airborne Rangers Cadence-Got to be.
