CA:Pit Bull Shot After Biting Child in San Bernardino

A pit bull attacked at least two children on a neighborhood street, wounding one, before someone fatally shot the dog Sunday afternoon, police said.

The dog got loose in the 2400 block of North Genevieve Street (map) and began attacking people about 2:40 p.m., a San Bernardino police lieutenant told NBC4.

The pit bull bit a child's thigh. Someone arrived with a gun and fatally shot the dog, the lieutenant said.

The shooter is lucky it wasn't a coyote. Under the new California law banning traditional ammunition for the taking of wildlife, he might have been fined.

I’m just amazed anyone in CA actually had a firearm and ammunition. How long did it take them to unlock it, unlock the ammo, load it, call for permission to fire, etc.?

The right decision no matter the breed of the dog, but especially one that is traditionally associated with fight training that makes them vicious.
