Gutierrez: GOP will never win another national election if it doesn’t support immigration reform

If Republicans don’t join together with Democrats to pass comprehensive immigration reform, “they will never win another national election,” according to Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.).

-snip-

Gutierrez is an outspoken progressive, but he has still made somewhat unlikely alliances with Republicans in order to push immigration reform. In 2012, the Illinois Democrat praised the immigration reform strategy presented by Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), someone he had previously called an “extremist.” Gutierrez also partnered with Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc.) earlier this year, participating in a pair of immigration reform events in Chicago.

Well then, I guess we’ll just have to move to the states that will be seceding.

The national electoral success of the GOP party in and of itself isn’t a worthwhile goal absent decent policies—except as a career vehicle for GOP-branded politicians.

This concern that lib Dems have that the GOP will lose elections to them is very moving.

BS.

Although I’ve no doubt that the GOPe believes him, and his (ha ha) sincere concern/hope that the GOP win more national elections.

And the GOP will NEVER EVER win another election if they allow reform because it will bring more Democrats than ever before across te border

Classic draw play by the Left. We see right through it.

If Republicans “join together with the Democrats” to create 40+ million new Democrat voters, then why would anyone bother voting Republican ever again?

There really would be no difference between the 2 parties.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.

Meh. I don't care. None of the weasels in the federal government is looking out for anything more than their own power and glory.

So Republicans win by allowing immigrants to become citizens so that they vote Democrat?

Sounds like your typical Rat with a math deficiency.

Exactly. Open borders and amnesty would make Texas and Florida blue states. The combination of California, New York, Illinois, Texas, and Florida would create a huge uphill electoral challenge for Republicans. Republicans need to wise up and realize that the millions whose immigration they facilitate will not be voting for them. Heck, the way they are going, I wonder how much longer I can!

Nor will the GOP win another national election if it does support immigration reform.
