Mainstream Republicans Show No Fight

Every time we have a congressional impasse over budgetary issues, we hear from liberals predicting Shutdown-mageddon. Why don't they ever join us in expressing concern over the inevitable financial collapse that will result from their policies?

We always seem to hyperventilate over these mini-crises involving the temporary shutdown of small parts of the precious federal government, while we totally ignore the real financial catastrophe we're headed toward unless we begin to move in the direction Sen. Ted Cruz and other congressional Republicans are insisting on in these budgetary battles — defunding Obamacare, reining in spending, and reforming unsustainable entitlements.

Indeed, President Obama, his Democratic Party, the media and some establishment Republicans are railing against a group of spirited, principled, patriotic Republicans doing their best to fulfill their congressional watchdog obligations against the unprecedented recklessness emanating from Washington.

Every single time Republicans try to take meaningful action to honor their mandate against the further unfolding of these federal government train wrecks, they are slandered as irresponsible.

But who is more responsible, those driving the United States over the fiscal cliff or those willing to allow us to drive over a small hill in order to stop the guaranteed financial free fall awaiting us if we don't begin to put on the brakes today?

It's maddening to hear Democrats, the media, and the establishment join hands in condemning the tea party and Reagan conservatives as fanatical extremists who are just spitting against the wind.

Well, if opposition to Obamacare and our current unsustainable level of spending and entitlements makes us extremists, then God bless the extremists. In fact, those who are trying to fight the current lawless assaults on our liberty and our healthcare system are quite the opposite of extreme.

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

Like hell they don’t! They fight Conservatives, Christians, and the Tea Party tooth and toenail. If they fought the socialists 1/100 as much as they fought the afore mentioned groups, we would not be in the mess we are today. the Pride of Kentucky, one Mitch Mc Connell is a prime example.

well even on this site many people believe that there is a threat of default or a crisis now. they believe the media lies. so do Republicans believe the media lies also and act to avert the coming "default catastrophe" of the media. but it's only the latest imaginary hobgoblin the media threatens us with so that we give in to the latest law or mandate that increases government size and reduces our freedom

there has never been a threat of default even though the media keeps using the word default in every headline from a million media outlets

the media would have us believe the Republicans will suck the air out of the atmosphere if the don't raise the debt ceiling . pure lies

Mainstream Republicans are as bad as leftist Democrats when it comes to borrowing money to pay debts.

Only in America could a President refuse to negotiate, Barrycade our National parks, landmarks and memorials, and refuse to fly fallen soldiers home or issue benefits to their families AND THE GOP GETS THE BLAME.

COMPROMISING WITH MARXISTS moves America closer and closer to its demise. 0bamacare as presently constituted is also a disaster. 0bama has modified this law. A law which OUR CONGRESS IS NOT REQUIRED TO ABIDE BY.

America is finished. Done. Her goose is cooked by Marxists who call Republicans 'EXTREMISTS'. Game over.

(1) What ‘mainstream’ Republicans?
Don’t fall for the ‘fringe’ ‘extreme wing’ tarring of tea party representatives by the enemy

(2) .... show no fight
You know, well, they don’t have the numbers, they can’t muster the vote, they split their fingernails and had to get their hair done, etc etc etc. BUT if you give them money and vote for them, once they are the majority, they will fight for you.

We’ve been trying that. It’s not working too well. We couldn’t even kick McCain and Graham out. If amnesty is passed and all those former wetbacks become legal voters, the political process at the federal level is a dead end for us.

If we don’t even have the numbers to take over the GOP, what good would a third (really second) party do?

Not true. They have plenty of fight--when they're running against a conservative in a primary election.

What does that tell you?

I would rather win as an honest man than go down as one. Don't get me wrong, I'm not die hard Republican, but I just don't see how going third party is going to improve things.

I've asked this before on FR, but I'll ask again: if conservatives were to start taking over the GOP from the grass roots up, is there any legal means available to the GOPe to stop us?

We will still need win over a plurality of voters. How will we do that if we can’t even convince enough conservatives to become involved in the political process in order to take over the current home of conservatives?

To: DangerZone; All
I've been dealing with grassroots organizations for many years, and canvassing for Conservative candidates for 20+ years. This much is true:

The GOP-E has never been as Liberal as it is now. Not when it attacked Nixon, not when it attacked Goldwater, not when it attacked Reagan. It is so Liberal right now, it is unrecognizable to me. And there is nobody doing more damage to grassroot Conservatism right now than Karl Rove, whose defense of Liberal Republicans and mountains of money he gets in their treasuries has quelled almost every attempt at a grassroots uprising. We win every once in a while, sure, but we lose a lot more than we win. It's getting to the point where we almost can't unseat people in primaries because of the raw money and media power.

It used to be that the GOP-E was Liberal on Social Issues and Conservative on fiscal issues. Now they are very Liberal on Social Issues and Moderate on fiscal issues. They are terrified of the press, the Chamber, and K Street.

I always hated third party talk. Now I'm looking at going that way, myself. This party is going in the wrong direction, and it is irredeemable now. It's lost, for good. We're not going to save it, and we're not going to take it over. The GOP is no longer the solution, it's a drug we take to drown out the Democrats, and we've overdosed.

This cave we knew was coming. Probably had more to do with the EBT card thing on Saturday. Just my opinion. I think that is why Obozo invited the GOP to the WH on Friday.

Obozo probably said, you will see what I will do this weekend.

The Republican Party is as useless as an ashtray on a motorcycle. The only issue in each of these fights is how long it will be before they quit.

We have that mechanism in America's Party, via our affiliations committees. Either leaders stay firmly fixed on core principles, or they are immediately voted off the island.

It’s been slow but steady for a very long time. Although, with the current set of events in Washington, we have noted an appreciable uptick.

We’re very picky about those we consider for leadership positions. Our people do a better job of vetting potential leaders and candidates than any group of folks I’ve ever seen.
