It's been one of the biggest questions leading up to today's special election for US Senate, how many people would actually turn out to vote?

Polls where I live were dead. The people working the polls were amazed how slow it was in my district. They hope it will pick up after work.

What is weird is I know several people who are writing in Congressman Holt (D). How this will play out is anyone's guess.

Booker will win, probably by at least 10 points.

This is NJ, after all.

I was surprised when Sarah went to Lonegan’s rally, because when he loses tonight (not his fault, the demographics just don’t line up in New Jersey), you know they will turn this race to a referendum against the Tea Party.

Strong turnout from South Jersey may get this to 6-points, but don’t see much more pick-up ground than that. It is what it is.

Well, I did my civic duty and voted for Lonegan. We’ll see what if anything happens.

This is probably going to be one of those 25-30% turnout elections. Imagine if every registered Repub and conservative actually got up off their asses to go vote. Victory could be achieved... but too many people are convinced there's no point in it.

For nothing else, because it's right thing to do, they should vote anyway. If for nothing else, give the underdog a good showing.

This a a very active political site. Folks here are pretty much up on what’s happening politically throughout the country!!! But...even here, on this site...you see the apathy and lack of interest of the American people!!!

“You can lead a horse to water....but...you cannot make him or her drink” Sad commentary on the American voter!!! Had every Republican, Conservative turned out today...Steve Lonegan would have wiped up the floor defeating Obamabot clone, Cory Booker!!! Rest assured...the ObamaStash group has gotten out of bed and is headed to the polls to protect their free handout goodies. Shame on you, Republican and Conservatives!!!

For many years, the Republicans have been the red-headed stepchild. The spirit is just about broken, not a lot left, just the hope that the “tea party” can somehow save us. Well, they better change their name because as of right now, they are the new stepchild, the left has labeled them racists, and jihadists and the beatings are going to be relentless.

Not that it means anything, but the polls were very busy in the very conservative Hunterdon County township that I live in.

Holt? That’s weird. Do you think those pi**ed off Newark voters might write him in?

Hannity is already reporting fraud all over this thing.

Special elections garner low turnouts.

We just had a special election here for a state rep seat, vacated by a Republican.

Alas, the Democrat lefty babe beat our guy by only about a couple hundred votes.

The turnout was less than 10% of registered voters. It's a GOP county but only by about a 5000 registration majority. So the Pubbies just HAD to show up at the polls...but they didn't.

The Dems are always well-organized and good at getting their base out in special elections....and they did. The GOP voters sat on their hands, probably most of them not even knowing there was a special election yesterday. Duh!

And ObamaKare was an issue in their campaigns. Go figure.
