(CNSNews.com) - Every business day since May 17, the U.S. Treasury has published a daily statement claiming that the federal debt subject to the limit set by Congress closed the day at $16,699,396,000,000—about $25 million below the legal limit.
Monday, the Columbus Day holiday, according to the Daily Treasury Statement released today, marked the 150th straight day that the Treasury has said the debt subject to limit was stuck at $16,699,396,000,000.

Considering the debt had been rising like clockwork at $100 billion per month up until that point, expect that the actual debt at this point is $500 billion higher.
When they vote on the debt limit increase later tonight I wonder what the new limit will be given they start out a half trillion in the hole that they've yet to acknowledge.

Given the most recent activity as of late perhaps the number 16,699,396,000,000 might signify the collective number of brain cells left withing the the US Congress, specifically the GOP.... but then I realized that if that were the case that number would have dropped exponentially over the past few weeks. So I am flummoxed to figure out what this thing signifies and why was it left frozen at that particular number for all to see? .... Hmmmmmm ..... Very curious.
