EXCLUSIVE--DESANTIS: NO CONFERENCE ON SENATE IMMIGRATION BILL
breitbart.com ^ | 16 Oct 2013 | Matthew Boyle

Rep. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), a member of the House Judiciary Committee, has called on House GOP leadership to be open and honest about their intentions with any forthcoming immigration bills before they come to the floor. DeSantis said House GOP leadership should promise that there will be no conference committee with the Senate’s “Gang of Eight” immigration bill, and that there should be no attempt to try to fix the Senate’s bill.

“We should not go to a conference on the Gang of Eight bill for two reasons,” DeSantis said in a phone interview with Breitbart News. “One, I don’t think, if you look at the way the Gang of Eight bill is structured, I think the flaws are so endemic to the bill that even if you had an honest compromise, I don’t think whatever came out of that compromise would represent conservative principles at all. It’s a big gulf between where conservatives are, where millions of Americans are, and what was done in that Gang of Eight bill."

Driving home tonight, Politico is reporting Immigration Bill is dead. Someone significant (didn't catch who), has backed away from the bill.

Let's hope it's true ...

I don’t trust either of the two Democrat parties any more.

I’ll believe it when I see it.

The GOP will stand up to the Democrats on this. This time will be different!

Labrador, who was at one time part of a bipartisan group in the House trying to strike a deal on immigration, said the way the continuing resolution and debt ceiling fights have shaken out prove Republicans shouldn’t take up the issue.

“I think what [President Barack Obama] has done over the last two and half weeks, he’s trying to destroy the Republican Party and I think that anything we negotiate right now with the president on immigration will be with that same goal in mind, which is to destroy the Republican Party and not to get good policies.”

He must be the one - Politico was VERY somber when reporting this ... ANOTHER GOP WIN !!! (I'm the only one on FR who thinks the GOP won) ... These are the intangibles ... Obama is now radioactive and a Lame Duck ... the House won't deal with him now ... I call that a win !!!!

Obama is now radioactive and a Lame Duck I pretty much agree.

Obamacare on the ropes, sequester in effect, no gun control. Also, people are screaming like today's deal was some kind of cataclysm; in reality it only lasts a couple months and sets the stage for more budget discussion, something Obama did not want.

My feeling is that the MSM is doing all they can to convince the right that they're losing when really it's Obama who is becoming more and more irrelevant.

Rand Paul’s immigration speech

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.

Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.

Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.

Let’s start that conversation by acknowledging we aren’t going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.

If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...

This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.

Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

[but he’s not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]

I can clearly see how the MSM plays conservatives. For some time the MSM has been doing all it can to convince the right that they're losing when the opposite is true.

Obama is getting weaker and weaker. All he's got is his podium and that's not working so well anymore because people are getting sick of hearing him talk.

Instead of asking the house leadership to do something. How about TELLING them to step down.

Better to get rid of the income tax in favor of a sales tax so the illegals pay taxes that way. We can do with out more democrats.

Yep. Pubbies will be done. It will mean more taxes on producers and freebies for non producers. Won’t last long anyway. Economic disaaster will then upset the apple cart. No telling where it goes from there.

You can’t keep spending and printing money for ever. Eventually, the currency and economy will implode and every thing changes.

I’ll bet a lot of folks working on Stalin’s projects got really stressed out, too, if things didn’t go well. Lucky for these people we don’t have gulags yet.

The Guardian (UK) called him a lame duck president, which he is. Our collaborator press hasn’t bothered to reveal that little gem, as you mentioned.

Labrador left the House negotiations several months ago, I believe.

(I'm the only one on FR who thinks the GOP won) ...

You are correct to this extent: The House GOP was on its way to winning. But the Senate GOP lost it for them.

From a conservative standpoint, the House is not a problem -- the Tea Party wing has demonstrated that they control the caucus and, thus, the House.

But Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republicans have proven they are populated by a majority of two-faced fakers and porkers. Primarying the likes of McConnell, Graham, Alexander, Cochrane, et al has become a priority.

When was the last time he scheduled a speech before anybody but a college audience?
