Dershowitz: Ted Cruz Is an ‘Intelligent,’ ‘Principled’ Debater
NewsMax ^ | October 16, 2013 | Greg Richter

Freshman Sen. Ted Cruz, who has led the tea party wing of Republicans in Congress in their effort to defund Obamacare, is an intelligent and principled debater, says his old Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz.

Appearing Tuesday on CNN's "Piers Morgan Live," Dershowitz called the Texas Republican "one of the sharpest students I had, in terms of analytic skills. I've had 10,000 students over my 50 years at Harvard . . . He has to qualify among the brightest of the students."

liberals compliment you when you have no chance of winning. ex. solo Cruz. they know you can’t implement your beliefs so why not appear magnanimous.

Dershowitz has made a handful of objective comments despite the political tide. CNN is responsible for the scheduling.

"They're talking about how the government has to pay its debts, how it has to secure the credit of the United States . . . Nobody, in a million years, would have contemplated the power of Congress to shut down the government to create doubts about our credit-worthiness," Dershowitz said.

Is he kidding? They were talking about killing tyrants if need be. The shutting down of the government was exactly what they had in mind.

I actually was in the minority here, in that I disagreed with Ted Cruz on Obamacare.

But I’m all for him in every other regard.

Now. There is a Republican healthcare bill in the house, which they did not pass. Yet.

Just saying...

Former economic adviser to President Barack Obama, Austan Goolsbee, appearing on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” on Tuesday, said much the same thing about his former Harvard classmate.

“I think Democrats would make a big mistake to underestimate him,” Goolsbee said. “I think he’s very smart.”

Cruz does understand the dangers of Socialized Health care and he fights to save us from it.

Alan Dershowitz can be a fair man at times, even if he is a liberal.

In all the years Barack Obama has been in the public eye, never once has a former professor of his made a statement praising his intelligence or abilities as Alan Dershowitz has done for Ted Cruz.

The Clintons also have never been publicly praised by any of their former professors at the Yale Law School or their undergraduate colleges.

In addition, neither Obama nor the Clintons ever served as Supreme Court clerks — a great distinction — as Ted Cruz and Mike Lee have. In Washington, Ted Cruz is Gulliver among the Lilliputians, and he proves it more and more each day.

He's also complimenting Cruz because the GOP establishment is publicly trashing him.

Dershowitz’s - for better or worse - is totally his own man. He says what he believes - period. Sometimes he stands with liberals, sometimes with conservatives...

Forty six Senators talking serially on a range of issues could have slowed down, or stopped a hundred bills that mean something to individual Democrats but nothing to the leader. McConnell, however, does not have it in himself the ability to lead an insurrection.

Yes-—he is “fair” on occasion but he is so flawed to believe in Socialism/Marxism. I always wondered how he can be logical/reasonable sometimes and literally see the truth at time-—like the brilliance of a Ted Cruz-— and absolutely STUPID at other times.

But then marxists/socialists are irrational. Suppose they can be “right” on occasion like a broken clock.

I have exchanged emails with Dershowitz. He is his own man and does not speak or write using liberal talking points.

I've known a few in my lifetime. In a freshmen level history class, I once locked horns with one and embarrassed him in front of the class over a particular episode in history which I had just finished a book about.

He asked me to stay after class. I thought uh-oh! To my utter surprise, he congratulated me for taking the time to be well-informed on the topic and engage in an intelligent and engaging debate. I got an A in the class even though our political viewpoints were polar opposites.

“Cruz would be too good for this country.”

On that we agree, Americans who voted for Obama don’t deserve a great and impassioned leader like Cruz. But we who still believe in liberty need him.

Agree or disagree Dershowitz says what he means and means what he says, without giving a rat’s a** if it’s PC or not. I gotta respect that.

Yup, Dershowitz also defended George Zimmerman claiming he was entitled to a defamation case against his prosecutor, Angela Corey.
