The Associated Press has declared Newark Mayor Cory Booker the winner in Wednesday's special U.S. Senate election.
Booker defeated former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, a Tea Party Republican, to serve out the remainder of the late Frank Lautenbergs term.
Although the race was close early on, Democrats were quick to declare Booker the winner. Only 40 minutes after polls closed at 8 p.m., the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee was declaring victory. A short time later, state Sen. Barbara Buono, who is running against Governor Christie in the Nov. 5 election, offered her congratulations to Booker.
When it rains it pours, I suppose.
Thanks, New Jersey, you’re awesome!
Apparently nobody gives a damn anymore.
Looks like a 12 point differential. That’s an improvement for the GOP in Nj.
Princess Clinton/Booker 2016.
Talk about a bad day. I’d hate to ask, can it get any worse? But often the answer to that question is more bad news.
Its Joisy. I hope it cost Booker a bunch of Obamabucks.
We’ll see. Seems the jackasses jumped fast with their announcements.
Stupid, stupid NJers.
How many precincts in Newark and other major cities received 110% turnout?
If you can call it good news, just look at the debt clock. Imagine that hanging ominously over New Jersey. these people will get the government they deserve.
Enjoy NJ... you are owned by the left, controlled by the left and condemned by the left.
Keep talking! I’m lovin’ it!
The New Jersey cesspool provides us with another floater.
Dead people and illegals always vote Dem, it was in the bag for Booker before the votes were even counted.
America continues to circle the drain.
The MSM is gushing over this little twink as being a “rising star” in politics.
Have they ever used that term to describe a Conservative?
who believes in fair elections in this race? i pretty much believe the repulican establishment tanked lonegan as much as the dems created votes for booker.
Lonegan's votes/dollars ratio must be through the roof.
Let’s take bets when Booker gets busted for corruption.
As if it would matter.
I don’t think anyone who knows politics expected Lonegan to win, but I was curious as to the closeness of the vote. He did better than expected, hope he can close the gap to sub-10%.
How did Snooki vote? Inquiring minds and all that jazz....
Shocking. Oh the humanity! That disaster happened in New Jersey too.
So has Fatso called Booker yet to congratulate him?
The Democrats did not need to cheat in this race. If Booker got a 50% turnout of legal black women voters alone, that would have put him over the top. The GOP in NJ is a club. The Democrats are a party.
They’re probably having a sleepover party.
That’s with ZIP support from the NRSC
Ann Coulter said it this morning, in between fits of madness, praising McConnell to the hilt by virtue that he’s better than Trent Lott ever was, who admitted to have been in it for the money.
She reminded that ‘democrats do not lose close races’
he didn’t have a chance.
Not Lonegan. The national party hates him because he's an actual real life conservative.
If they dug up Christie Todd Whitman's bones and ran them, she'd get more party support than Lonegan.
Republicans will win fewer and fewer elections until they figure out a way to stop the democrat fraud and ballot box stuffing.
Look at the points spread. Nobody expected Lonegan to win.
In two weeks, look at the points spread between Christie and what's-her-name.
Here’s to hope!
Booker 56% Lonegan 43% with 75% of precincts reporting.
I voted for Steve. I was proud to do so.
I’m originally from MA, but married NJ. I’ve never heard anyone from NJ say Joisy! You got a problem with that? ( joking)
I live in a small town in Essex County. (Glen Ridge - about 12 miles from NYC the way the birds fly.) A small town with gas lamps, and it used to be very conservative. However, in the past years there has been an influx of NYers, and the Dems have taken over. We are very much aware of the mess that Newark is in, and I will be curious as to the vote count in this town. Not that we would make any difference. In a Prez election-— fageddaboudit!
The voting place I went to covered several districts, and there were only a few people there. I am curious as to the turnout %. If the town has a lot of Dems, they probably don’t give a darn for Lonegan, even if they don’t like Booker.
There is always Hillary’s victory in 2016 to look forward to
They are black. Would elect the devil himself if he was boack.
Snooki? I want to know how lautenberg voted.
That’s true. And some people ask why I left America a few years ago. I love it when people say, but you live in Red China. At least the Chinese are trying to initiate more free market reforms, meanwhile the US government’s reforms are wiping out the free market.
