Capitol Hill talk regarding the Senate deal apparently includes a provision that would take away the Congress power to increase the debt ceiling. According to Politico, it looks like the buzz appears to be true.:
The plan includes a proposal offered by McConnell in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis that allows Congress to disapprove of the debt ceiling increase, which means lawmakers will formally vote on whether to reject a debt ceiling increase until Feb. 7. Obama can veto that legislation if it passes. If Congress fails as expected to gather a two-thirds majority to override the veto, the debt ceiling would be raised...

The Republicans hand Barack Obama a credit card with no limit.
That’s the fruit of two weeks of phony posturing.
How do you go from a bargaining position where you say “we’ll give you a debt ceiling increase if you give me x in return” to “forget x you can increase the debt ceiling anytime you want”.
Was it the $2 billion pork for McConnell?
The hits just keep on coming.
“It would also put an immediate political target on President Obama, and Democrats by association, for being the sole entity responsible for raising the debt limit by over a trillion dollars. That opportunity has got to sound pretty good to Republicans ahead of 2014.”
What planet does this guy come from? The democrats are going to relish raising the debt limit - just think of how many more people they can get hooked on government dope.
this is a terrible day for freedom and opportunity . the government keeps growing and as government grows freedom contracts, and ability to make money contracts( you have less opportunity). what don't these idiots get about that, that growing the government so much is dangerous to our freedom and to our survival?
running up the debt is only a political issue when we have a GOP president, which pretty much the democrats are planning on making sure never happens again
BTW, why do we need a Congress? Window dressing?
>> This is unConstitutional. Period. End of sentence.
Now that the moocher class has achieved majority status, our choices are more limited.
We either sit back and take getting robbed repeatedly, we flee, or we resist. The ballot box is no longer a viable option, especially now that what we once thought was our party has openly and joyously betrayed us.
Lets start a massive recall and boycott all who back these Bozos.
Send the congress critters home and cut off their paychecks. That will save some money.
GOP .... Greenlighting Obama Programs
Time to primary the RINOs
This is 100% McConnell the Whore. It makes the House totally irrelevant in the debt ceiling issue.
An alcoholic is now the bartender.
What difference does it make?
This whole debt limit thing was a scam from the get-go.
What the hell good is a limit that is raised every time they get close to it?
In fact, they’re already way beyond it, since the official debt numbers haven’t changed for something like 6 months, which is a flat out lie.
FUBO, FUHR, FUJB, FUMMcC, and all the rest of their crooked cronies.
The US Congress supports al Qaeda and Communism
rather than the US Constitution and the American People.
McConnell is a traitor, pure and simple.
This Is The Best Description I’ve Yet Heard Of Last Nights Debacle.
thanks—and unfortunately it’s true. By effectively negotiating away the Power of the Purse from Congress, we now live in a DICTATORSHIP. The coup is just about complete: AMNESTY AND OBAMACARE will redistribute our nation’s wealth to the world and we will be left with some tumble weeds in Nevada.
At this point I say just let them keep raisig the debt ceiling until finally we crash. There is no way to stop the train now its going down the tracks too fast.
There is a reason Chase is going to stop allowing clients to wire money out of the country and limit business cash activity to $50,000 per month. Most likely its to prepare for currentcy controls or bank closings.
I say forward to the crash. We have to eat up all that survival food sometime.
