Obama health target: 500,000 signups by Oct. 31 [see it "slipping out of reach"]

WASHINGTON (AP) — For the first month alone, the Obama administration projected that nearly a half million people would sign up for the new health insurance markets, according to an internal memo obtained by The Associated Press. But that was before the markets opened to a cascade of computer problems.

If the glitches persist and frustrated consumers give up trying, that initial goal, described as modest in the memo, could slip out of reach.

The Sept. 5 memo, for Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, lists monthly enrollment targets for each state and Washington, D.C., through March 31, the last day of the initial open enrollment period under President Barack Obama's health care overhaul.

The new online insurance markets, called exchanges in some states, are supposed to be the portals to coverage for most of the nation's nearly 50 million uninsured people. Middle-class people without job-based coverage can shop for subsidized private plans, while low-income people are steered to an expanded version of Medicaid in states that have agreed to expand that safety net program.

In the article it's reported that 50 million are uninsured, that's up from the 30 million number they used when they were selling this turkey.

Last time I saw about 1% who had tired, signed up - aprox 50K. Some states had none sign up.

Will those who "bought" the lie believe anything Obama/Reid/Pelosi pitch now? Stories around the net give a picture of shocked and angry customers.

High unemployment has swelled unemployment ranks, helped along by government actions to keep the economy struggling (no pipeline, EPA rules closing down businesses and jobs, Obamacare dictates moving people to part-time or being laid off, and business in limbo for years and not hiring).

A $500,000,000 "glitch" (the costs of Obamacare go FAR beyond the cost of their unworkable government web-site). People are beginning to believe they've been stymied on purpose - that the site was designed to be "glitchy" keeping high numbers of people in the dark about the increase in their premiums, out of pocket coss (and what it buys) and for the truly out-of-touch, that it isn't free.

There will be NO savings - there will be a HUGE increase in costs to the middle class - with fewer choices (and in the coming years inferior and rationed services - doled out by some bureaucrat in charge of your family's life and death decisions).

How long will "glitches" pass muster with the compliant Obama media?

It has been shown it's not what it was billed - "cheap, free, accessible."

It's almost certain that you will not keep your coverage and your doctor. And it's likely that you will not see a doctor at all by rather a physician's assistant.

Doctors are leaving in droves and their numbers are not being replaced, as students are not flocking into medicine.

Again, Obamanoid groups have been funneled taxpayer money (unions, Acorn, etc), this time to tout "exchanges" and navigate people into this system.

Now word of security concerns because personal Obamacare online accounts are sitting ducks for privacy thieves (government and non-government).

Obamacare controls a SIXTH of the U.S. economy - the largest bureaucracy in the world, and is enforced by the IRS.

What could possibly go wrong?

This is the folly of all the Congresspeople who voted for it and did not stop it. What even most of them don’t seem to grasp is that Obama doesn’t care a thing about health care or a thing about jobs. He cares about draining the U.S. Treasury and getting a stranglehold over the lives of all Americans. It’s the Saul Alinsky Rules for Radicals strategy and methodology being carried out in front of our eyes and facilitated by an irresponsible Congress.

That will be difficult since Obama has personally exempted so many favored groups and contributors....

A lot of people are going to sit back and see when the king is going to rule that they too are members of the favored class - until they aren’t members of the favored class, once private health care has become so crippled that all that is left is the medical hell Sebelius and her underlings have been building by filling in the blanks on the law that “you’ll know what’s in it once it passes.”

“In Cincinnati on Wednesday, Sebelius urged Americans to keep coming back to healthcare.gov if they can’t get through. “Prices don’t change and the product doesn’t run out,” she said........................Starting in the new year, the health care law requires virtually all Americans to have insurance or face fines. “

The architecture of the system is literally so flawed that there is no way to even verify the records of the exchanges, the insurers and the enrollees have the same information on file. The IRS cannot and I think will not start fining Americans for not having insurance if that would mean being forced to buy an obviously defective product.

I wonder how many people around the world are trying to sign up for Zerocare.
Of course they can get it if they just sneak across our borders.

I'll bet the farm they are going through every bit of information they have collected
and calling people in desperation of meeting that goal. Maybe even threatening them by
saying It's the law and you will be fined or jailed. Anything is possible with this Jerk.

Expect a crisis to cover up the failure. I wonder how many times per day
the current WH refers to Americans as Stupid.

That’s funny.

No it’s not b/c it’s true. ;(

I’m not sure anyone who is pleased with yesterday’s outcome has ANY idea what a trillion dollars looks like. Great graphic..........

“..........The blogosphere is ripe with examples of sticker shock expressed by younger people who are for the first time seeing the actual truth of Hope and Change. Hardworking, productive young citizens finally are coming to the realization that such hope and change doesn’t include them.

What once seemed to be such an obviously simple solution to seeing that all Americans have health insurance has run up on the diamond-hard reality of economics: somebody has to pay. Guess what, all you young idealists who voted for Obama and supported national health care: he built it on your strong, young backs, and it is a burden you, the gradually aging healthy, will carry for decades until you finally become users of the services, which will by then likely be reduced to a skeleton of what you could have had before your liberal god destroyed the system.

[SNIP]

.............The feds, under the questionably competent Kathleen Sebelius, rolled out an internet interface that is laughably unworkable, financially punitive, and incapable of enrolling folks who face significant dollar penalties if not enrolled by the first of the year.

And to these incompetent federal fools Americans will willingly entrust their health care?

I don’t think so...but I sense that something big is coming from a populace so ill-served.”

Thanks for that link. A picture is worth trillions and trillions of words.

About that Nurse Ratched-Sibelius pic. I found it on an old FR thread.

I’m confused. I thought the administration said they didn’t know how many people are signing up. So are they lying about not knowing or are they lying about knowing the number of enrollments are gonna be short at the end of the month? Can’t have it both ways....oh wait, they’re democrats, now I’m no longer confused /sarc
