(CBS News) CBS News has learned of a shocking link between a deadly drug cartel shootout with Mexican police last week and a controversial case in the U.S. The link is one of the grenades used in the violent fight, which killed three policemen and four cartel members and was captured on video by residents in the area.
According to a Justice Department "Significant Incident Report" filed Tuesday and obtained by CBS News, evidence connects one of the grenades to Jean Baptiste Kingery, an alleged firearms trafficker U.S. officials allowed to operate for years without arresting despite significant evidence that he was moving massive amounts of grenade parts and ammunition to Mexico's ruthless drug cartels.

GRENADES? How to blame this on US gun laws and gun dealers?
I wonder how barry’s raiders were going to work this into a second amendment violation. I just don't see how our current laws support the stockpiling of grenades to “right wing extremists”. Stay tuned though because these boys always make some outlandish assertions which are bought hook line and sinker by most of the loyal press and fellow travelers.

It won’t matter when 0 gets his super majority in 2014. The Stupid party will see the lowest turnout for door knocking, calling, and contributions in history. I can picture how the campaigns will go.

Obvious answer! Piece by tiny piece.
In one week? In a foreign jurisdiction? Knowing how things are done in Mexico it is difficult to imagine forensic techs on their hands and knees with tweezers picking up frags, and even harder to imagine the entire mess being sorted and assembled from multiple devices and then ID'd and traced in time for a summary report.
My best guess is that they recovered unused ones left at the scene.
In the previous answer i was being a smart A but in my day all the parts were made of steel so I imagine a good magnet would gather all the pieces, then start sorting for serial number fragments. Possible to do? Maybe but not probable, IMO.
