Schumer: Dems Got Everything They Wanted; Republicans Got ‘A Fig Leaf’

The bipartisan deal to reopen the government and temporarily lift the debt ceiling includes one small Obamacare element—a provision that says people’s incomes must be verified before they can get Obamacare subsidies to help pay their insurance premiums.

But this was not a concession to Republicans, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Wednesday.

“It’s, you know, it is, frankly, a bit of a fig leaf, which we were happy to give, but that was not a negotiation. That was not what Ted Cruz and the others started to demand that we give them.” …

What did the GOP idiots expect from these National Socialist Democrats? Of course they are going to rub in your face, shove it up your asses, make sure everyone knows that you are all weak, spineless dumbasses who do not represent in any way the interests and needs of the people who elected them.

They’ve all got their obamacare cutouts at our expense as well as a guaranteed lifestyle of the nobility that they’ve given themselves at our expense.

"Take a lesson, Rubio. Stay away from this guy on immigration."

Very good advice. If Rubio ignores it you just know what Chuckie's next statment will be: "Rubio gave us everything we wanted on amnesty and we gave up nothing".

You mean the budget they’re required BY LAW to produce?

This was no “compromise,” it was capitulation.

In compromise, each side receives concessions. The GOP got jack squat. This weakens any future negotiation position the GOP had.

When you bring nothing to the table, what’s the opposition’s incentive to negotiate?

Welcome to the permanent minority status folks, you’ve earned it.

Republicans? who are they? Oh wait wasn't that another political party way, way, way back in the day when the country had at least two parties to vote for instead of a endless dog and pony show with pretend representation and principals?

The Democrats won the battle but the American people will be the eventual losers of this economic war. We’re toast folks unless a significant number of Americans wake out of their hope and change induced trance. I’m watching the MSM and they’re acting like it’s Christmas Day and nirvana has been unleashed across the land. We just added another trillion dollars of debt and the government is on its way to destroying private medical insurance in this country. I have a very empty feeling inside knowing that most Americans are just standing by and letting the country just fall off an economic cliff.

I'm not gullible enough to say the Republicans won by any stretch of the imagination but they may have accidentally stumbled on to a "fig leaf" that, in the long run, could end up doing far more damage to Obamacare than they, the democrats, or Obama believe.

Word is that insurance companies are NOT happy with the new provision that requires them to verify income and eligibility before they can issue a policy. The insurance companies were the ones that had petitioned Obama to postpone the verification requirements in the first place. The reason being is that there is currently no simple "one stop" system in place for them to do the verifications. Since the onus is now on the companies to obtain information to verify eligibility, they will be on the hook if they issue a policy without doing so.

So how will this hurt Obamacare as a whole? It will add another layer of bureaucracy to an already obtuse and convoluted system and make it even harder for people to sign up than it is now. It will also create delays as the insurance companies must verify eligibility before they can issue the policy. Last, it could very well drive some insurance providers out of the exchanges altogether and keep others from joining (participation is already very low with some states only having a single company).

No, I want him and the rest to rub it in. I want them to force that sh*t sandwich between the clenched teeth of Congress. I want the GOP-e in Congress to be loudly and publicly humiliated at every possible moment. Either they’ll roll ober and take it, or they’ll have enough vestiges of pride to find their backbone. I don’t count on the latter, so at least I’ll have the fun of watching them squirm as the ‘rats humiliate and beat like whipped dogs, their “friends across the aisle”. They earned it.

A leftie in another article was complaining that this was “sabotage” because, with all the existing technical challenges in the website, this one more thing would be currently impossible to implement.

As if he cares now? The Republic is done. We are now a “Social Democracy” and upChuck Schumer is part of the ruling class. From here to the end of my life my job is to work for the benefit of others, and die when my usefulness is finished.

Since they wanted to lift the sequester, they didn’t REALLY get everything they wanted. They DID end up with the bill they originally agreed to back on September 30th, with a small change.

Which should REALLY get an unbiased press to ask — why didn’t Reid bargain with McConnell in September for this deal? Why did he wait until 2 weeks of shutdown.

Anyway, this wasn’t really a bargain, it was surrender terms. We didn’t really bargain away anything. That’s like saying the Japanese “bargained” badly at the end of WW2.

We lost the war. But just remember — Texas LOST at the Alamo as well. But that doesn’t mean the Alamo was a senseless fight.

“[Income verification in order to qualify for subsidies], you know, it is, frankly, a bit of a fig leaf...
It is very seldom that I find myself nodding in agreement with the senior senator from New York; but it is very hard to avoid doing so here...

It won’t stop anything. Just like the current welfare crop rolling around in escalades with 10,000 bucks worth of wheels on um.

That is actually another thing we “won”. Given this fight, it is much more likely that the moderates will not take a chance with immigration reform, because the tea party has proven that it has the power to influence the house.

And the bill includes a $2bil kickback to McConnell’s home state to help him get re-elected and continue working for 0bama. These people are shameless.

Thatcher's "Ratchet Effect" worked once again. America moves ever leftward and only occasionally stops, but never moves back to the right.

We haven't had a real conservative as president since Reagan who left office 25 years ago. Bush I got into office because the Dems ran the worst candidate in history, Michael Dukakis. Bush II got into office by lying and telling everyone he was a "compassionate conservative". He governed like a mushy moderate and rapidly moved us toward bankruptcy.

Now the GOP holds the House but cannot hold the line on spending. Gee, I wonder why?

It's because we are being crushed in the vice of a Hegelian dialectic. The Dems and the GOP are on the same team and working toward the same goal - complete control. If you control both teams, you always win. Those who whine that we can't have a third party don't understand that a third party would actually be a second party.

If we stick with the current political landscape, we lose America and our freedom. Take the red pill and wake up.
