Obama takes tough tone, decries pressure from 'extremes'
LA TIMES ^ | 10/17/13 | CHRISTI PARSONS

... Obama lectured members of Congress on Thursday on their responsibility to serve the country, urging them to negotiate with him on the budget and immigration reform instead of endangering the country with games of "brinkmanship."

Decrying the "pressure from extremes" he blamed for the 16-day government shutdown that ended Thursday morning, Obama said political opponents should instead try to affect government at the ballot box.

I’ve been expecting it. I was actually expecting it yesterday.

The republicans in the senate gave Obama control of the budget. He has usurped the House of Representatives responsibility to control spending.

He has taken the position that he will enforce only laws he agrees with; meaning he will use them against opponents and not use them when he can protect friends.

Funding for non government environmental organizations has gone through the roof by using the "Sue and Settle" tactic of taking our money from us to fight us for the right to own and enjoy property.

The health care scam is infringing on our liberty in areas we never anticipated.

...and now he's already talking amnesty.

Put on the popcorn and watch the transformation of America, because there is no hope until we clean the congress of beltway collaborators and that won't happen for a long, long time.

Obama also has his flying monkey cabinet out spreading his message. This is posted on DoD installation FB pages:

To All DoD Personnel:

Today the Department of Defense is resuming normal operations across the world, now that Congress has finally restored funding for DoD and the rest of the federal government. This manufactured crisis was an unwelcome and unnecessary distraction from our critical work of keeping the country safe.

I know that each of your lives has been disrupted and affected in different ways. I regret the impact that this shutdown had on so many of our civilian personnel, particularly those who I was previously unable to recall from emergency furlough.

Starting today, we will be welcoming all of our civilians back to their normal duties. To those returning from furlough: know that the work you perform is incredibly valued by your military teammates and by me. I appreciate your professionalism and your patience during this difficult period of time, which came on top of last summer's sequestration-related furloughs. Your managers will have more information about this, but I can assure you that you will be paid in full for the time you were furloughed during the shutdown.

Now that this latest budget crisis has come to an end, we have an opportunity to return to focusing on the critical work of this Department. Unfortunately, Congress did not end the budget uncertainty that has cast such a shadow of uncertainty over this Department for much of the year. In the months ahead, they will have an opportunity to do so. My hope is that they will realize that these kinds of crises do great damage to our people, our national security, our economy, and America's standing in the world. Congress has a responsibility to govern, and it must fulfill those basic responsibilities in order to keep our country strong.

From the Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel

“... opponents should instead try to affect government at the ballot box ...”

Um excuse me, but isn’t that the reason Republicans control congress? They won the House of Representatives at the ballot box.

Just think!

On June 9, 1776, John Adams wrote from Philadelphia, "Objects of the most stupendous magnitude, and measures in which the lives and liberties of millions yet unborn are intimately interested, are now before us . . . ."

On June 11, a Committee was formed to develop a declaration of their intentions.

On July 4, 1776, a lengthy Declaration of Independence was adopted which changed the world! William Ellery, Rhode Island, later wrote that he stood where he could watch every person sign the document: "I was determined to see how they all looked as they signed what might be their death warrant. I . . . eyed each closely . . . . Undaunted resolution was displayed on every countenance."

What a contrast! Our ancestors, in less than a month, took the kind of courageous action that leaders who love their country take on behalf of liberty for "millions yet unborn," accomplishing in just weeks what no civilization had accomplished before.

Today, feckless pretenders to leadership, living like kings in previous monarchies, personally risking nothing, make excuses for inaction and allow the precious inheritance of freedom to be risked for the sake of political power.

Prior to Hitler becoming chancellor of Germany in 1933 by the death of Hindenburg, nazis and nazi sympathizers led primarily by Goering and Goebbels mucked up the machinery of the Reichstag by delaying and sabotaging votes to give the impression of a completely dysfunctional legislative body. This was coupled with a relentless propaganda campaign making Hitler look like the solution to the stalemate. In fact the oft used image of a face with tape on the mouth to mean suppression of freedom of speech was a propaganda tool first used by old Adolf to his great benefit. The rest of course is a very ugly chapter in history.

Obama said political opponents should instead try to affect government at the ballot box.

Oh...yeah God forbid that a sitting Congress should have a say in Gov't!

What a fruitcake.

yes he did. but doing it one time is not enough he has to beat the dream constantly he has 3 hours per day to do it. so I hope Levin continues to call for Obama’s resignation. Levin is the only one who has done it though . and he does deserve our support for doing so. they all have 3 hour radio shows every day but what do they talk about ? bs most of the time imo
