Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said Wednesday that the budget standoff in Washington and partisan bickering have eroded the confidence of the American people and damaged the credibility of the U.S. Congress.
In an interview with NBC News' Brian Williams, McCain said some House members' determination to repeal or defund President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act during a government shutdown was “a fool’s errand.”
"We inflicted pain on the American people that was totally unnecessary. We cannot do this again," McCain said. "We, Republicans, have a hole that we've got to come out of and obviously we're going to have to do a lot of work."
McCain, who himself opposes the president's health law, said that stubbornly pursuing the plan to destroy Obamacare during a government shutdown was an impossible task.
"So, you deceived a lot of Americans and that adds to the cynicism," he said.....

Defunding ObamaCare was only a fools’ errand because there are so many spineless RINO fools like John McCain. This could have easily been accomplished if the GOP had some backbone and did what they were elected to do. What these fools don’t seem to understand is all they have done is alienated the people who put them in office, who happen to be in the majority obviously, and pleased the minority of people who didn’t vote for them and never ever will vote for them. I am so fed up with the lot of them!
Who cannot see the damages by the 29 1/2 Work Week on the American People.
Who cannot hear families cries of loosing their health insurance to to Obamacare.
Who cannot see folks loosing their jobs due to Obamacare.
Sometimes "Get along to Get Along" McCain is just not good enough.
Some long shots might be “fools errands” to some, but they are at least worth the effort, especially when the stakes are so high.
The problem was the failure to have a plan to modify Obamacare in a way that could be sold to the American public. Instead, the Republicans had a marketing problem. They lacked a simple, easily explained plan. It would be something what most Americans would agree was a good plan like fixing the high cost of the premiums.
Newt Gingrich had a ten point plan he called The 21st Century Contract with America. Boehner had no such a plan.
Then when Zer0 threatened to shut down the government because he would not accept the plan, the Republicans could have said they will not fund Obamacare without the provision in the budget. The American public would have supported the Republicans with this tactic. The Republicans now will have to fight Obamacare in a more complicated way.
If anyone knows anything about fools, it’s Juan.

Having a credible plan to improve on Obamacare would have been a big help in the public relations battle, but I thought the tactic of refusing to raise the debt ceiling until Obama agreed to defund or delay Obamacare was not a good idea. My basic premise is that the US, as one of the world’s largest debtor nations, should do nothing to cast doubt on our ability or intent to pay our debts. Uncertainty means higher interest costs, which we simply cannot afford.
It seemed to me that those who were leading the fight believed that if they won the support of the majority of the American people, that Obama would back down and make the desired concessions rather than face the possible calamity of the US running out of funds. But Obama had an advantage in this scenario—he was the only one who didn’t care if the US was seriously harmed. That, after all, has been his goal from the start of his presidency. And here he was almost handed the means to bring possible ruination AND he could blame it on the “radical Tea party fringe.” Perfect for him, not for us.
As 0bamacare continues to roll out and the up roar rises all we have to do is say “told ya so”.
The base voters aint gonna be happy and the conservative up starts can just remind voters which Rs voted for 0bamacare and who gets special treatment.....
We have been handed a golden opportunity!!!!

Juan is up for re-election in 2016. It takes an average of $10 million to run for the Senate. But it will take much more than that to run against Juan. He’s wealthy, to put it mildly. Being already in the office he’s got the high ground. He won last time with 59% of the vote. This time, at least during the primary, the MSM will have his back.
With those odds, you could run Jesus against him in ‘16 and still lose.
