Having buried their mutual involvement in the CAC, Ayers, not surprisingly, fails to mention my assertion that in Dreams Obama perfectly mimics Ayers's sentiments on education. In fact, Obama reproduced virtually meme for meme the specific ideas Ayers outlined in a 1994 essay titled "Navigating a restless sea: The continuing struggle to achieve a decent education for African American youngsters in Chicago."
A one-time merchant seaman, Ayers had a penchant for words like "navigating." He ribs me as the "great brain" who discovered "those infamous maritime references" -- an apparent laugh line. As Ayers knows, however, those references are not so easily dismissed.
At the end of the day, I found in both Dreams and in Ayers's books the following shared words: fog, mist, ships, sinking ships, seas, sails, boats, oceans, calms, captains, charts, first mates, floods, shores, storms, streams, wind, waves, waters, anchors, barges, horizons, harbor, bays, ports, panoramas, moorings, tides, currents, voyages, narrower courses, uncertain courses, and things howling, wobbling, fluttering, sinking, leaking, cascading, swimming, knotted, ragged, tangled, boundless, uncharted, turbulent, and murky.
Empirical proof or crackpot confirmation? You decide. If nothing else, I suspect my exposure of this nautical tic made Ayers at least a little self-conscious. Public Enemy is all but devoid of such references.

A two years later Ayers and Dohrn lived in the same neighborhood as Obama in Manhattan and both active in radical politics. Ayers was at the Bank Street College of Education, Obama hanging around Columbia and admittedly involved in radical Left politics. Then Obama stays in Manhattan in the same neighborhood even longer and Ayers then attends Columbia University Teachers College a few blocks north of Bank Street College. Who would believe that they didn’t know each other even back then? Ayers was most likely his “friend from the neighborhood” not first in Chicago, but a decade earlier in Manhattan.

And there is another Columbia University medical school connection: Weather Underground associate Alan Berkman, M.D., who treated one of the Weather Underground killers from the October 1981 Nyack Brinks murders of two policemen and a Brinks guard, went underground and ultimately went to prison.

Whoa, thanks for that info! In his biography of Frank Marshall Davis entitled “The Communist,” Paul Kengor discusses at length the extensive ties between moneyed leftists associated with Chicago, including the Ayers, Vernon Jordan and nee Michelle Robinson’s family, et al.
Seeing that the black Muslim street gang that ran the neighborhood O organized was eventually arrested for domestic terrorism (financed by Libya /Kadaffi ) nothing these two were involved with surprises me.

In 1969, Weather Underground founders Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn (who were to become Pres. Obama’s personal friends and associates for many years) put Charles Manson on the cover of their occasional newspaper, “Fire”. At what was billed as a “War Council” in Flint Michigan that same year, Ayers and his comrades took to greeting eachother with “the fork” - four fingers pointed upwards, in honor of Manson. (Google Dohrn’s Flint conference quote on Manson - and Sharon Tate, who was 8 1/2 months pregnant at the time.) In 1972 Ayers dedicated the WU’s manifesto, “Prairie Fire”, to his cultural and political heroes — a list which included Sen. Robert Kennedy’s assassin, Sirhan Sirhan.
Throughout their career as terrorist bombers, Ayers and Dohrn were constantly trying to break the Left free of its “bourgeois” commitment to any standard of justice or decency. I also read that Ayers helped Obumbo to finance his home, reportedly across the street form Ayers. I do not, however, have any confirmation of the reported ties between Ayers, the Pentegon bomber, and Obama.

I was only addressing the authorship of Dreams. Cashill did yeoman’s work & sleuthed out the truth. Then Anderson, an author sympathetic to the Obamas, interviewed their friends in Chicago & confirmed Cashill’s deductions. For info on the house deal, nothing beats research. When he was first elected I did read a great deal about him from various internet sources. It does appear that the far left and criminal elements, such as Ayers, spent a number of years grooming their puppet-boy for the destruction of America.
Did anybody else catch that scene and see it the same way? It was very brief.

I did not see "Lincoln," and now probably won't. I read Cashill's book "Deconstructing Obama" and can say with a very high degree of confidence that Cashill nailed Ayers as the author of "Dreams." The number of nautical references in Ayers' own work when matched up against "Dreams" has a mind-blowing number of agreeing terms.
Spielberg isn't impressed with Cashill's arguement? I don't believe it. If a subtle dig was inserted in "Lincoln" as you posit may be the case, that just demonstrates that Cashill got under Spielberg's skin.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that scene were a dog whistle written specifically for Obama and Ayers and a few others to appreciate.
And yes, as soon as I saw it my thoughts were 1) I saw what you did there, Mr. Spielberg, and 2) Looks like Cashill has gotten under their skin.
