Why We Need Both Sen. John Cornyn and Sen. Ted Cruz (Cornyn protection piece)
blogchron.com ^ | 10/17/13

Posted on 10/18/2013 5:23:40 AM PDT by cotton1706

Sen. John Cornyn has taken a lot of heat from the right for not supporting Sen. Ted Cruz and Sen. Mike Lee when they filibustered a House-passed bill that would fund the federal government but defund Obamacare. It was a complicated mess, but anyone who has followed Cornyn’s career knows he has fought against Obamacare from day one. The difference here was a difference in strategy. Cornyn has been in the Senate for 11 years. Cruz has been in the Senate for less than a year. I think Cornyn knew that strategically this wouldn’t work, and he ended up being right about that.

Cornyn was a a state Supreme Court Justice and Attorney General before he was a Senator. He is calm and reasoned. Cruz was Soliciter General before he was a Senator, and he argued 43 oral arguments before the Supreme Court. He is used to arguing his point in a forceful way. Cruz campaigned on shaking things up. Cornyn has been doing the hard work for years. Cruz is a flamethrower. Cornyn is about rules and the rule of law. Cruz is about throwing a wrench in the works. Cornyn is about doing the right thing day in and day out.

I think both of them are great men. I think both of them care about this country very deeply. It’s unfair to call Cornyn a sell out for one disagreement on strategy and ignore his years of hard work for conservative causes. It’s also unfair for newspapers, like this one, to act shocked that Ted Cruz did exactly what he promised during his campaign. Do we need someone like Cruz in the Senate? Yes, we do. Do we need someone like John Cornyn in the Senate? Yes we do.

“I know I’m not voting for him again.

I’m not going to vote for the dem, but I’m also not voting for Cornyn.

This is one Texan that’s had enough.”

That’s how I felt about Scott Brown. I was done. If he won, he won, but I WOULD NOT be responsible for any of his votes. I left my ballot blank for that office and thousands like me did the same and he is now out of office. He couldn’t be elected dog-catcher here because, despite what people think about MA, there are conservatives here and we have clout, and without us, the moderates lose because in reality, democrats vote for democrats. And Scott is now moving to New Hampshire.

Yes—there is someone else:

US Rep Louie Gohmert , also from Texas.

He would make a fine US Senator, who would work well with Senator Ted Cruz.

Do a search on him, and I think you would agree. At the present time, he has no plans that I know of to run for the Senate, but with some encouragement, I think he would consider it.

We need to encourage him to run for the Senate, and back him with our money and support.

Also there are primary challengers in the news.

****************

Which names are your hearing? Anyone with statewide recognition?
Filing for the primary is Nov. 9 - Dec. 9, 2013. I know Gohmert has
been mentioned but I don’t know if he’s interested.

Add Lonegan from NJ, he was outspent 10:1 by the dem, and got no help from the NRSC. Even with all of that Lonegan got within 11%.

I am just thankful that John Cornyn wasn’t at the Alamo or at San Jacinto.

He is exactly what is wrong with the Senate Republicans, today.

Remember, he is the Senate Minority Whip and as such, he’s been a close ally to McCain, Reid and Schumer. He also worked with Mitch McConnell to undercut efforts by Cruz, Lee and Paul to stymy Obamacide and AMNESTY.

I wouldn’t vote for Cornyn to serve as Dog Catcher even if Texas were over-run with Chihuahuas.

Dump the “reasonable” freaks. Enough of this pandering to the commies and “working with” them. All that “reaching across the aisle” brings is a hand dirtied by the stench of DIMs/LIBs. Free America requires fighters, not feminized moderates.

Cornyn’s strategy is is to wait until a better time to attack Obamacare. But, for RINOs like him, a better time never comes.

He wont fight during a budget fight, he wont fight during a debt fight. Aren't those fights the best time to fight the budget/debt buster that is Obamacare. I'd like to ask him WHEN will be the best time to fight Obamacare?

I guess he is waiting until all the planets align with the Sun so that the tides favor repeal. Or maybe HE IS JUST LYING, AGAIN.

Way I’ve got it figured, even if Cornyn does get reelected, his margin will be so small it will put the fear in the SOB.

You can’t get stabbed in the back by someone you don’t vote for.

McCain and Cornyn (a few others) would have been the ones who sided with the King, because it was just to hard, a fools errand - just so they wouldn’t soil their white wigs.

“You can’t get stabbed in the back by someone you don’t vote for.”

That’s exactly right! I’m pretty well-versed in post-war political history and time after time, conservatives were told to unite and vote for all the moderates. Yet whenever a conservative was running, there was no reciprocal support from the moderates.

It’s always a one-way street so they can go screw. They used to be able to count on our votes, at least in the general elections, but no more. I think it’s gotten to the point that if McConnell, Graham and Alexander succeed in their primaries, there will be any number of people who will either stay home or vote for the democrat, just to remove them from office.

My tolerance meter has pegged out with these clowns.

For some reason, kind of like a loudmouth drunk, they just can’t seem to get the message when you are nice to them.

The only thing they understand is waking up the next day and finding out they got ass kicked all over the place.

To be fair, that can't be lain at the feet of John Cornyn since he's not the NRSC Chairman now; Jerry Moran of Kansas is. But that's not to say that the NRSC is not still is run by treacherous fools (except Cruz, who is Vice Chair for grassroots outreach).

The background music (on the ads I hear) sounds vaguely like the Alamo movie tune from 1960, “The Green Leaves of Summer”...Maybe the “Green Leaves of Summer” are calling him home.

Maybe its time to have a serious talk with Reggie Love and some of 0’s other Chicago butt buddies (if they are still alive)...Sooner or later someone’s going to step forward and the ball will be in his court.

Ha! . .the next day the media meme would be about how couragious Obama was to come forward and how the Republicans were motivated by blatant racism. . blah, blah, blah. The is NO scandal huge enough that can bring down Obama. . .the media will never run with it. . never! We have a dictator in the White House and even we haven't realized the full implications. . .he's not planning to leave, folks. . .between now and 2016. . .some contrived emergency will "force" him to remain in office. . .whose going to stop him? who?

That's the real lesson from this recent Republican cave. Obama now knows, there is nothing to stop him. . .this is the worst thing to reveal to a tyrant. . .and, folks, that's the real bad news about what just took place. We have encouraged the monster. . .he now believes EVERYTHING is on the table. . .including a third, fourth, fifth term in office. .ala Hugo Chavez.

Scandal?. . .a "scandal" is going to bring down our new dictator, our Fuerher? HA!

WTF! Never send your child to a public school if you have the means not to. Had I written this article in a 9th grade writing assignment I would have gotten a "D". Muddled thinking, poorly constructed, typical Houston Chronicle garbage.

Ever notice, everyone on our side always says to be nice when contacting your senator or rep., so they are nice.

Does anyone believe the dems are nice when they contact a repub senator or rep?

Who are they listening to, those that are nice or those that get in their face?

Being nice obviously doesn’t work anymore.

It’s time to stop being nice.

When you have a crazy girlfriend that tells you “I’m not leaving and you can’t make me”, it’s time to say “yes I can I’m bigger than you” and pick her up and throw her out the door.

Well, I tell you, I’m NEVER nice when the RNC or the NRSC call me. They get an earful! Though I don’t get many calls anymore.
