Does Obama Know? Does Obama Care?
Wall Street Journal ^ | October 18, 2013 | By JAMES TARANTO

The American people really do deserve a presidential address on ObamaCare. No, not as punishment for re-electing him, or at least not mainly for that purpose. Rather, because 2½ weeks after the launch of the "exchanges" that are supposed to be ObamaCare's operational centerpiece, it is clear to almost everyone that they are an administrative disaster. In this crisis, there is an opportunity: to recognize an impending economic and humanitarian disaster, and to act in time to avert or at least minimize it.

That requires a willingness to face reality and a capacity for leadership. So far Obama has shown little evidence of either.

If we can't be sure of the magnitude or details of the disaster that is ObamaCare, it is in substantial part because the administration is stonewalling.

This disastrous law was a product of Obama's willfulness. It is up to him to account for its results, and to devise a plan to minimize the damage. So far there is no indication he is even making an effort.

With sentiment that strong, why are they even a member of the UN at all?

Post of the WEEK!

But why did he plan it this way?

Got that right. I don't know why conservatives keep calling it a "train wreck" or "Obama is stupid."

Even Dingy Harry said Obamacare is just a step away from single payer.

Single payer has always been the goal.

The goal has always been single payer.

Set the insurance companies up to fail with bogus "exchanges" that can't compete with the gubmint.

Companies are dropping people left and right, or reducing their hours under 30.

Dims will blame Republicans for "being in the pockets of the greedy insurance companies."

Staged protests (like the $15 minimum wage advocates) will call for single-payer.

Media will showcase sob stories, Republicans will cave.

SF Bay Area BART system is on strike today. A good occasion to remember how it got started. It was a disaster when it started running in the ‘70s. It took years to work the bugs out, and in some ways it remains a disaster, it’s in its very design, nothing can be done. Because the geniuses who designed the system did not anticipate any failures, they did no build sidetracks where disabled trains could be moved. As a result, any disruption of service can last hours. That’s just one of the problems. Everybody knew back in the seventies that the system was a failure. Yet, a few years later the designers of it received medals of accomplishment from national engineering organizations. This is what awaits Odungacare.

What can he say really, that won’t make him into a greater laughing stock than he is now?

The Wall Street Journal was reporting that insurance companies are having to go over each electronic application manually, because users haven’t filled in required fields, some are listing multiple spouses for coverage, etc.

I mean, it’s Web Site Creation 101 that you write code to check for required inputs, data inconstancies, etc. and don’t let the submission go through until all the edit checks have passed. The insurance companies say that if, and when, the volume of applications picks up, they won’t be able to handle all the manual checking that has become necessary.

Whatever Obama says, the blame comes back to him for putting such unqualified people in charge of overseeing this computer system. So all he can do is try to BS his way out of it, but that can go on for only so long.

We have to wreck the train before we can put it back on the tracks.

The goal has always been single payer.

I agree with that. Do you think the public will be receptive to it after this mess?

Obama cares only about the desires of those who bankroll him.

Same goes for every Congresscritter and your state and local officials.

Money rules. There’s no conspiracy beyond money.

I don’t need to hear him speak again on any topic. He is singularly unqualified on every subject of interest to this nation.

But this is backfiring on B-HO. Young people are technology savvy. Young people will not trust the government software again (single payer or not) after this rollout FAIL.

Obama can't do other than what he is, a dogmatic, humorless, monomaniacal, Marxist.

Alinskian tactics are all he knows.

Unfortunately, the Collaborators are equally unable and unwilling to use Obama's intransigence against him, in order to overturn Obamacare.

But Cruz and Lee are able and willing. 2014 will be the year of the Tea Party Republicans.

Thank you for your post. Very insightful, explains many govt failures due to corruption (read: planned or designed failure, or somebody else’s problem). Thanks again.
