...Considering how exhausted and humiliated House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, looked after failing to unite his GOP majority behind the final compromise, Cruz's sentiments sound like a man cheering Don Quixote's tilting at windmills.
But it is important to remember that Cruz's favorability ratings have shot up among tea party supporters because he speaks for a cause that is larger than the boring, if necessary, concerns of actually governing or even his loyalty to GOP leaders in what he calls "the Washington establishment."
The shame of the showdown was how unnecessary it was. Outside of Obamacare, the tea party movement's stated goals already are being achieved. Since Republicans took control of the House of Representatives in the 2010 midterm elections, according to the Congressional Budget Office, discretionary federal spending has been falling, the federal employee head count has been reduced and deficit reduction has been progressing at a faster pace than in any other three-year period since the wind-down that followed World War II. It's too bad that the tea party folks don't seem to know when they're winning.

Thanks for letting me win Clarence, can I have my
shirt back now?
Clarence Page is a befuddled neanderthal who should have gone extinct 300,000 years ago.
Now we need to find another Ted Cruz for the other Texas Senate seat.
We could use a hundred of them.
To Dream the Imposible dream! or to Quote Gone with the Wind: “Lost Causes are the Only ones worth Fighting For!” I admire Cruz for his attempt! Look to see more follow him—IF he had support—he might have killed Obamacare before it got out of the coffin.
They’re openly threatening Ted Cruz on twitter and posting his home address.
No more bama phones pisses off the masses.
They be entitled to make up for a wrong.
Don’t take much to spook a herd of liberal ssheople.. Ted never even got it out of 3rd.. Looking forward for the fireworks ahead. The rockets red glare, bombs busting in air.. Yada yada.. Ciao. :-)
We’re trying to talk Louie into it.
In a pitched battle, a great place to be is underestimated.
If he would run, we have him! He is US Rep. Louie Gohmert from TX.
I’ve been encouraging him to run, but he needs a war chest of about 1/4 mil to be able to attempt it............and also, he is a first term rep, I think—so maybe he needs a bit more seasoning.
Actually, Gohmert is in his 5th term (first elected in 2004) and was a judge for a decade before that.
He seems to think it's doable. That he can just reload 'em and go .... but see Adam Nagourney in the NYT, gloating over the destruction of the California GOP, as RiNO's bail on their constituents to clasp the hands and kiss the rings of the new masters of the State.
The shut down was necessary to stop Obamacare.
It failed because Republicans were busy fellating Obama and stabbing Cruz in the back. Cruz did not lose, he was sold out. America was sold out.
The Republican party is no longer viable. They are an untrustworthy pack of Shiiteheads.
By the time the border fence is complete they'll be shooting Amerikan escapees.
Read jerks like Clarence Page & Eugene Robinson to find out what the enemy is thinking.
BTW, these are two lite-n-brite café au lait dudes who couldn’t scare a white person if they tried, but envy those who can.
If a white person crossed to the opposite sidewalk to avoid Page or Robinson, they’d be grinning Chiclets while denouncing “racism”.
Oh—I got some wrong information. Thanks for setting me straight!
Gohmert unquestionably has the experience. My sole worry about anyone who has been in DC that long is that they may have spoiled (and forgot that they were sent there to slay the beast). Over 6 years (the usual maximum good-by date) and even our hero Ted Cruz could be assimilated by the gargantuan government establishment hive (AKA the Surrenderist Caucus). As long as they stick to the Jesse Helms model (who survived 30 years in DC) and not giving a damn what the leftist media or political establishment thinks, they should be fine.
