NORTH NAPLES United Healthcare is dropping hundreds of doctors from its Medicare Advantage plans in Southwest Florida, local physician medical societies say.
The effective date is Jan. 1 for doctors affected to no longer be part of the network.
... Worse, she said, is that doctors arent being told why they are being dropped.
Donahue said shes trying to put together a list of the doctors and she knows that hospital-employed physicians arent affected, while it seems like smaller group practices are being targeted.
We are guessing it is cost-cutting, she said. We cannot discern anything else because some of the top-rated physicians have been removed, some specialists to our area have been removed.

Something else happens Jan. 1st too.
Can’t remember what it is ...
And yet the AARP TV ads for healthcare state that with UNITED HEALTHCARE you can see any medicare doctor you want. Something does not smell right and it sure isn’t roses.
“I have often wondered at the smugness with which people assert their right to enslave me, to control my work, to force my will, to violate my conscience, to stifle my mindyet what is it that they expect to depend on, when they lie on an operating table under my hands? Their moral code has taught them to believe that it is safe to rely on the virtue of their victims. Well, that is the virtue I have withdrawn. Let them discover the kind of doctors that their system will now produce. Let them discover, in their operating rooms and hospital wards, that it is not safe to place their lives in the hands of a man whose life they have throttled. It is not safe, if he is the sort of man who resents itand still less safe, if he is the sort who doesn’t.” | Doctor Thomas Hendricks, P3C1
This will end up being a version of the Death Spiral. As more doctors are dropped the remaining patents will fall on just a few. Those doctor’s won’t be paid for a visit for 6 months. So they’ll have a short term cash flow problem and either go bankrupt or voluntarily drop out of the program. Soon there will be no doctors. (We had a heck of a problem finding a doctor for my 96 year old mother who would take whichever it she has. (I can’t remember.))
Collective sacrifice brought about by the king Obama.
He won’t be asked about this.
I’ll be waiting for Boehner to hold hearings.
The bottom line to all of this is that doctors that service big government program enrollees have to work for big corporate bureaucracies. If you are a private doctor, you can no longer take government payments for your work, and maybe soon you can no longer take insurance payments, either.
However, on the plus side, doctors that are moving to cash only, and do not take government or insurance payments, have discovered they can charge half of what other doctors do, they get more time with each patient, a lower case load, and actually make much more money.
The only sticking point that remains for them are sky high malpractice insurance rates. If states clamp down on malpractice settlements and jury awards, limiting them to actual damages; and/or revoking medical licenses in really awful cases, a lot of doctors will jump the corporate/government ship and start private practices.
Stalin murdered millions to achieve a communist state. These marxists like to spread pain around.
I can't see anyway this could possibly save money. Medicare Advantage doesn't pay for facilities or staff salaries, so if you have a million patients and you cut off a portion of your doctors, you still have a million patients to cover.
It seems like another one of Obama's punitive strategies to punish private business doctors.
Well I think Medicare Advantage is a HMO. So there has to be money involved here. Most HMO patients pay less than those who are on Standard Medicare I think. Perhaps this is about increasing $ seniors have to pay for care.
Employment opportunies are now avaialble for former licensed phyicians with revoked or suspended licenses. 2 years minimum experience required. 80 hour work week. Annual salary cap - $70K. What does the P3C1 represent?
United offers supplemental policies and advantage plans. This article doesn't specify which advantage plan but it is probably the HMO advantage plan. The article mentions switching to a different plan which is probably the PPO plan.
Under the HMO plan you have to stay in the network, but in the PPO you can go out of the network but have to pay a larger copay.
You have options: There are lots of insurance companies offering many different supplemental policies and there are numerous companies offering the different advantage plans.
But if you want the cheapo no monthly premium HMO advantage plan there will be a limited number of insurance companies and a limited number of doctors within the insurance company's network.
SS deducts the $100 from your SS, gives it to Medicare. If you sign up for an advantage plan Medicare gives the $100 to the plan operator and they provide you medicare benefits. You don't even deal with Medicare or use your medicare card.
United Healthcare; the rotting carrion of carriers.
That is the key point. The AHA (American Hospital Association) was all in for ration care. Hospital administrators have always resented the power and the income of doctors. Up until recently, however, they were dependent upon them in order to get patients to fill their beds. Not any longer. Increasingly, they own the doctors. They don't seem to care that the government owns them.
IIRC, United Healthcare did the same in Connecticut a week or so ago.
It sounds as if United is doing some kind of restructuring.
I got a letter from my Medicare Advantage provider that they were dropping out of the program in my state. As a result, I have to choose another MA provider, and that list had dwindled since the program began.
Actually, there will be other sticking points, if the cash-care doctors/clinics become plentiful and challenge area medical facilities.
They could be regulated, requiring a specialized license and or tax status.
They could also lose privileges at hospitals.
They could lost the license to write prescriptions.
You can bet the state, FED, and insurance industries will not let the cash-care industry get much of a foothold.
All of which is to be expected BTW under NOBamaCare.
That's right, I said NOBAMACARE. It's NOBamaCare because no one will get any healthcare under NOBAMACARE!
The NO is for NO CARE! SUCKERS!!! Elections have consequences, suck it up cupcakes!
The way it works is that, by reducing the number of doctors, you increase the caseload of the remainder so much that people on Advantage cannot see their doctor for months.
Likely many will drop not wanting to wait that long.
They might have some other gimmick, for example that if they do not have enough doctors, then they can force patients out of their system.
Medicare Advantage plans are medicare administered by the insurer. That is, the provider bills the insurer that inturn, deals with medicare.
Medicare advantage is a special breed of medicare. The doctors and other providers like it because they bypass medicare and do not have the hassle. For those of us with medicare advantage but have strong distasteful memories of dealing directly with medicare for our now deceased parents the benefits are enormous. I don’t see how anybody lacking a copy machine could deal with medicare. The amount of paper gemerated is on the verge of over whelming. For a person not capable of dealing with lots of documents and bills from all sorts of major and minor providers, the job is quite large.
My primary care group doesn’t accept new medicare patients. When you turn 65 to remain, you must sign up with a medicare advantage insurer. Medicare part A and B and D are no longer acceptable.
Well, there you have it....recruiting criminals for Obamacare Doctors, Navigators, and Nurses etc etc etc ....
Of course this whole “thing” is about generating revenue to the IMF and Obama..... and Redistribution of our wealth to any with a hand out or to barter on the world stage.
We will get the crumbs from His table..at best!
No doubt that we are marked and will be IMO...just a matter of time.
Just like communism .... everything is free, but there is nothing to get. You can keep your health plan and your doc, but your plan went away and your doc is no longer practicing.
Not to worry. These “top-rated” physicians can be easily replaced by imports from Pakistan, India, and Nigeria who will be glad to work for much less money. Their speaking English probably won’t be a requirement as that would constitute “discrimination”.
You're going to wish you had one of those doctors by the time they get done affirmative actioning medical training.
> Of course this whole thing is about generating revenue to the IMF and Obama..... and Redistribution of our wealth to any with a hand out or to barter on the world stage.
I wonder what his “real” net worth is nowadays (including offshore accounts with Saudi, MB, and Soros “funding”)
> I can’t see anyway this could possibly save money.
Its not. Never was. It was the takeover a healthcare industry to turn it into a monopoly while at the same time giving the IRS an inside connection to your finances and personal information and setting up a system to catalog and document every citizen in the U.S . for tyrranical control. If we start seeing a worldwide healthcare management system emerge that has the capability of linking records on billions of “enrollee aka “citizens” then you know what will be next. NWO. Rise of the real AntiChrist; 0 will probably assume the role of Dark Vader then...
Soon the state licensing boards will go after those entrepeneurial doctors, yanking their licenses to practice unless they get down on bended knees to nobamacare. There will be no dissent allowed. nobama and his commie ilk hate others’ freedom. Despise it.
“Donahue said shes trying to put together a list of the doctors and she knows that hospital-employed physicians arent affected”
Hospital employed physicians will soon be government owned howpitals and the docs will be getting paid a salary directly from the government. I hope the AMA loves what it has set in motion for its members

The words of advice that “things change” only makes sense to people in retrospect. A decade before the Soviet Union collapsed, I speculated to a very nationalistic German that the tables could be turned, that the Soviet Union could fall, yet Russia could then become the defender of civilization, because unrestrained by a foreign enemy, the US could lose its bearings in one way or another.
At the time, the German was of course horrified with the speculation that Russia might become “the good guys.”
Yet, again about that time, somebody found an old novel written in the 19th Century that predicted in the 20th Century that the Austro-Hungarian Empire would become the imperialist threat to all of Europe, and by mid-Century would be unstoppable in its efforts to conquer the world.
In any event, it does provide some solace that, while we cannot predict the future, it is highly unlikely that it is bad as we imagine it to be, or bad in the way we imagine it to be.
