Kasich Repeats Refuted Obamacare Talking Points at Cleveland Clinic

John Kasich repeated his well-worn routine of calling billions in new federal spending “our money” and insisting the Obamacare Medicaid expansion is “what the Lord wants” during a speech this morning at the Cleveland Clinic.

“It’s our money! This is not, like, somebody else’s money,” Gov. Kasich said of the Obamacare Medicaid expansion funding he seeks to spend in Ohio...

this — like other talking points the Republican governor has used to justify his flight from fiscal responsibility — is not true.

“Bringing our dollars back and helping these people to get their lives back is so right,” Kasich said later in his Cleveland Clinic speech. Over the course of approximately 20 minutes, Kasich made variations of this false claim a total of 5 times.

Robert Alt of The Buckeye Institute, Michael Cannon of Cato Institute, Matt Mayer of Opportunity Ohio, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, and even Dennis Smith, who served as director of the national Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) under President George W. Bush, have all refuted Kasich’s deceptive description of how the Obamacare Medicaid expansion works.

With billions per year in taxpayer money at stake, at no point during the 8-month fight over the Obamacare expansion has any member of Ohio’s legacy press acknowledged this.

After attesting to how easy his decision on Medicaid expansion was because of his religious faith, Kasich said that critics “don’t understand the problem” the Obamacare expansion will address.

“This is not a program designed to encourage dependency,” Gov. Kasich said defensively.

Before constitutionally clueless Kasich speaks on the Lord's behalf, he needs to wise up to what the Constitution that the Lord blessed this nation with actually indicates about "government" power to address healthcare issues.

Given the remote possibility that some freepers aren't aware of this, not only did Justice John Marshall officially clarify that the states have never delegated to Congress, via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate public healthcare, healthcare a 10th Amendment-protected state power issue, but also that Congress is prohibited from laying taxes in the name of state power issues.

"State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress. (emphases added)" --Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." --Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.

So although Kasich is right about Obamacare funds being "our money," he is evidently clueless to the idea that "our money" should never have left the state in the first place. Given Justice Marshall's words, Kasich should be arguing that, by accepting Obamacare funding, he is recovering state revenues which corrupt Congress stole from Ohio citizens in the form of unconstitutional federal taxes.

The "deflation" that the liberal economists have feared, they will now get with the ObamaCare for which they voted, as the cost of health care leaps and takes away the opportunity to buy a house.

Congratulations all the way around the greedy blood-sucking limousine liberal fantasy "land."

The $200 to $1,000+ that prospective home buyers would otherwise have for monthly payments - *particularly in California* - will go to pay for 0-care, The New Money Pit.

Funny neither party wants to do appearances at the Surgery Center of Oklahoma.

Got to defend that cartel pricing at all costs - campaign contributions depend on it.

What has happened to Kasich?

Blackmail? Details never came out (that I recall), but didn't it come out during the Chandra Levy thing that Kasich hung -- socially -- with Gary Condit and with a pretty dodgy bunch. There were rumblings of rumors, but then the 9/11 attacks came, and everything else pretty much dropped off the radar.

There was a time I thought this guy had big political ambitions (although eyebrows always go up when some “rising star” suddenly ups and quits congress). Clearly, Kasich is stopping right where he is. Like other spineless Republican governors who took the bait of temporary medicaid money from the feds, Kasich will be long gone when the money runs out and the next guy has to worry about big cuts (or big taxes, if the next guy is a rat).

I am glad to know that the fourth and fifth generation of lifelong welfare recipients in Georgia will now be moving to Ohio to stay connected to the gravy train. Good riddance.

The federal teat keeps the state in line.

Imho, the 16th and 17th amendments doomed us at their ratification.

One of the purposes of Obamacare/RINOcare is to expand Medicaid. After all, folks like the Gov think it’s “free” money.

Yeah...because the liberals who like this garbage are going to vote for Kasich over the Dem. Now conservatives will bail on him and liberals will flock to the Dem.

He’s an idiot.

Those states who had the sense to say “no” to Medicaid expansion will come out as the smart ones.

When folks sign up and see the “sticker shock” they’ll soon be relieved to be amazingly qualified for Medicaid. Medicaid rolls will expand big time.

Those states who accepted Medicaid expansion will soon find their 90/10 obligation skyrocket. When the feds back out of the deal (which they will) those states will be left holding the bag.

Suckers!!!!

“Hey Kasich — your spine called, in case you were looking for it.”

Not to mention, In Ohio we passed a citizen voted Constitutional Amendment barring any compliance with Obamacare.

[...Issue 3 adds an amendment to the Ohio state constitution stating that “no law or rule shall compel, directly or indirectly, any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in a health care system.”

Quit pimping the state for a place at the federal teet Kasich!

Oh Lord preserve us!

My governor is a moron, a useful idiot, or a RINO.

Enjoy your kool-aid, governor, and watch your state burn without jobs or coal.
