Young people in 45 states will see their health insurance premiums increase under Obamacare because the law relies on the money they pay into the system to offset the cost of caring for older enrollees, according to a new study.
Virginia leads the pack, as individuals aged 27 and under will see their health insurance premiums jump by 252.5 percent -- $416.55 -- according to the Heritage Foundation's Center for Data Analysis.
Virginians under the age of 50 will see their premiums jump by an even greater percentage, rising from $228 to $991.03.
Such increases are not a surprise to the law's architects. I have always said when looking at this bill, that if I were a young person, I can see elements of this bill that I wouldn't like in the short run, Henry Aaron, vice chairman of the D.C. health exchange, told the Washington Examiner last November.
Heritage expects monthly premiums for young people to drop in Colorado, Ohio, New York, Rhode Island, and New Jersey, "because those states had already over-regulated insurance markets that led to sharply higher premiums through adverse selection," according to study author Drew Gonshorowski....

Lets see if they think voting for messiah and his leftie ilk was such a good thing. Maybe they will believe this is Busch’s fault.
Democrats Confused: I had no idea Id be paying for Obamacare myself.
It’s not a premium, it’s a tax. If anyone actually believes based on the numbers we’re seeing that this has anything to do with healthcare rather than being the single biggest tax increase in history then they should seek medical attention.
Anyone who doesn’t think we’re living in Atlas Shrugged’es world of looters needs to share whatever he’s drinking.
They voted for change....they got it.....Enjoy!
Well 57, plus two or three he hadn’t been to... so that’s what, 47/60?
18 yr old Glenlivet?
not that it keeps me from thinking this is communism, it just numbs me to it. a little
I get grief from several when I mention AS or Ayn Rand. They think all is well in the Potemkin village.
No, it will jump in all 57 states.
Sorry, but who can afford that? $12,000 per year. And then you have to pay the deductible before the insurance kicks in. This is robbery, pain and simple. And it will be turning the young people against the old folks.
Oh, it’s just money. It’s not like they wanted to buy appliances or houses or cars.
From each according to his paycheck. To each according to his position in the Democrat party.
Karl had it a little wrong.
This is a test for who’s a coward and who’s not.
Ted Cruz may seem quixotic, but a coward he is not.
Don’t know about this chart. I’m in CO, over 50, and my family went from $1k/month to $1800 for less coverage.
I can’t believe how high the rates in Va are. That is astounding.
$991 was my last house payment.
Health insurance should be $12 per month, gasoline should be $0.25 per gallon and cigarettes should be $0.25 per pack.
That's more than what the providers make. The rest is stolen by government.
It’s a tax, and it is a wealth transfer. Do not doubt that was the primary motivation from the beginning.
....... That's a pretty good talking point .... that is that Premiums "Will Jump" ... in 2014!!
.... a more powerful talking point is that not only will these premiums JUMP in 2014 ..... THEY WILL ALSO BE MANDATORY!!!! This fact is not being driven home enough by the warriors fighting against the propagandized and deceptively named Affordable Healthcare Act. Most of the population still think this monolithic insurance monstrosity Will be FREE! Heck .... most of the electorate doesn't even realize yet that it will hit the majority of them and us in the pocket book. They absolutely need to know that those of us that are fighting against the so called Obamacare .... are actually fighting for their own financial well being and to save them all from the coming financial monthly expenditure that they currently don't pay.
... Never forget that .... "People have a tendency to vote with their pocket book."
.... Remember the massive outrage against the small ATM tax that was about to be levied by the banks a few years ago? This will be a thousand times worse for most.
The youngsters got their “revenge” on the geezers by voting for Barry. Now Barry is taking his “revenge” out on them. Karma.
