One woman's story of qualifying for coverage under Affordable Care Act
The Columbian (WA) ^ | October 20, 2013 | By Jay Greene, The Seattle Times

Carissa Brooks went to the Shopping Center on Saturday to buy some thread. She went home with some health insurance. It was an emotional moment for the 36-year-old mother of two.

She stumbled upon a health-insurance outreach program by Public Health-Seattle. The department hosted the event to help people obtain coverage through the Affordable Care Act.

"It's exciting," Brooks said, after hugging her "in-person assister," the staffer certified to help with enrollment. "I was going to cry."

Brooks was able to qualify for Medicaid coverage under the new Affordable Care Act provisions, and she will not have to pay any premium for her coverage.

To function, Obamacare is going to have to attract and be able to sign up relatively healthy people who don’t qualify for a subsidy

The insurance company doesn't care who is paying for it - they just need able bodied sign-ups. We care of course because they are being paid for by the taxpayers.

Nancy Pelosi: Obamacare Rollout Glitches ‘Unacceptable’

By Amber Kiwan Oct 20, 2013 10:29am ABC nancy pelosi this week jt 131020 16x9 608 Nancy Pelosi: Obamacare Rollout Glitches Unacceptable

ABC News

This morning on “This Week,” House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., said the website glitches around the rollout of the president’s signature health care law were “unacceptable.”

“As far as the Affordable Care Act, as I call it, the fact is, that yes what has happened is unacceptable in terms of the glitches,” Pelosi told ABC’s Martha Raddatz on “This Week.”

“This has to be fixed, but what doesn’t have to be fixed is the fact that tens of millions of more people will have access to affordable, quality health care. That no longer having a preexisting medical condition will bar you from getting affordable care,” Pelosi added.

Raddatz also asked Pelosi about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s political future, following her return to the campaign trail Saturday for friend Terry McAuliffe’s Virginia governor’s campaign.

Pelosi said she believes if Clinton does run for president in 2016, she would win and would be “a great president.”

“Let me say, if Hillary Clinton does run, she’ll be one of the best prepared people and she will win, I believe, if she runs,” Pelosi said. “She’ll be one of the best prepared people to enter the White House in a long time.”

Try Blue Cross Medicare Advantage plan. You don’t need a supplement.

From the comments:

“So we just turned another working person into a welfare recipient, I mean an affordable care “purchaser”. It is a nice emotional story. Funny, when WalMart employees are being subsidized by the taxpayer the newspaper does hit pieces but when a non-profit’s employees use tax money to subsidize their employee’s wages we herald them. The difference? Profit versus non-profit, the communist utopia.”

Good point!

“I’m from the government and I’m here to help you. Just write your name, address, obamaphone number, social security number, give me a blank check, and let me copy down any credit card numbers, and I’ll type everything in for you. It will only take a few minutes. You won’t need to do a thing! Those damn selfish rich people will pay the whole cost for you so you won’t have to pay anything to those greedy doctors and those super-wealthy hospitals!”

I pay over $200 a month for supplement insurance ... also pay over $60 a month for drug insurance.
Have you looked at Advantage plans in your area? They have to be cheaper than $260 a month.
My plan has a zero ($0) premium including drug coverage.

Dressed pretty nicely. Decent watch, jewelry. Obviously, caloric-intake/caloric-outlays >1.0.

Sure I’ll pay her way and her kids’ way.

The purpose of Obamacare is to enslave half the population to the other half.

What I see this developing into is the mother of all Ponzi schemes and the crash of it will be swift and catastrophic.
