Iowa residents are slowly exploring their options under President Barack Obama's health care law after technical glitches stalled the rollout of the new federally run online insurance marketplaces.

But a spokeswoman for one of the two insurance companies providing insurance in Iowa through the exchange said they have had 16 people enroll using the federal website during the first two weeks.

For all we know, these could be fake people, dead people or dogs and cats. We all know how reliable our govt. and the IRS are. Acorn people are probably had at work signing up in several states.

I’ll bet you’re right. With ACORN being involved, I imagine the entire Dallas Cowboys team as well as all of the Disney cartoon characters have already signed up at least once.

True, but the other awesome thing is that the american people have the attention span of a gnat, so it won’t be long before all interest wanes and the website is remembered as well as obamas snitch websites.

Look forward to the taxpayers being forced to pay a few hundred million dollars for SEIU/ACORN/LA RAZA navigators who will sign up the Obama voters via a paper form. Forget the internet. perhaps the website is screwed up on purpose so more Obama voters can be hired as navigators and get people registered to vote too

Wait till it sinks in across the country that if you have a $6000 (single) or $12,000 deductible (every year) on your ObamaKare plan, certain doctors and hospitals will demand the money up front or they won't see you, treat you or admit you. They're not going to treat you for free.

Most folks don't know this yet. This is the latest insult de jour....as most folks will not have the cash on hand to pay their deductibles.

I think a lot of people don't have a firm grasp of the concept of a "deductible." But they have some schooling coming up. We're going to see the Wal-Mart mini-mob scenario start to play out in Doctor offices when they find out they have to pay thousands out of pocket before insurance pays the first nickel (and when they do, insurance only pays 60%).

do the little people really pay deductables?

my understanding is,
the deduct is usually written off,
and the IC gets the the whole bill.

or not?

At this rate how many decades will it take to make the half-vast plan financially feasible? If the train travels at twice the rate will the tracks get to the station before the train is boarded? Will it multiply production by working 24/7 ? IOW Someone is being railroaded!

I have seen people being told at the urgent care. You have to pay up front because we can not verify you have met your deductible.

They said trying to collect fees from people after the fact was impossible.

<Wait till it sinks in across the country that if you have a $6000 (single) or $12,000 deductible (every year)

I’m in Iowa. I was able to get into the system and check out a plan (fortunately, I have insurance through my employer) to see what it would cost me if I had to go on it.

Wow. 60 yr old female with high income - 500$ something a month, with a deductible around 5200-5800$ (I forget the detail, I went into such sticker shock).

What I couldn’t tell is what income level I should use (I used my gross) gross? AGI? So maybe the rate would go down if I used my AGI. Also, if I were unemployed or had to take a job with lower income, the premium would go down.

Still, I have a chronic condition which requires blood tests and several visits to a specialist a year. I guess I’d have to pay for all of that out of the deductible? Wow. That would really hit the pocket book as some of the tests are hundreds of dollars.

16 people enroll using the federal website during the first two weeks.

That's more than one each day. How do they keep up?
