At 'Justice for Immigrants’ Mass, bishop calls Jesus 'divine immigrant'

Trenton, N.J. - Jesus was the "divine immigrant" who lived his life "traveling from place to place," Bishop David O'Connell of Trenton told the congregation at a midday "Justice for Immigrants" Mass Oct. 11 at St. Mary of the Assumption Cathedral.

"Sacred Scripture tell us where he was from and what his ancestral lineage was," the bishop said in his homily. "But nowhere in the Bible do we find his permanent address, the location of his house, where he lived after beginning his public ministry.

"He lived and worked as an immigrant, an itinerant preacher, on many levels," the bishop added.

With comprehensive immigration reform a high priority for many groups across the country, Catholics from throughout the Trenton diocese came together to join O'Connell at the downtown cathedral to pray and show their solidarity on the issue. Some 20 priests of the diocese were concelebrants.

O'Connell spoke of how important it was for the Catholic church to provide people with an opportunity to pray for positive movement on immigration. The Mass was coordinated by Catholic Charities and the diocesan Office of Catholic Social Services.

(remember God sent an Angel to tell them to Flee to EGYPT!)

Of course harrod was just doing the Abortion/Slaughter thing- getting rid of ALL male babies around Nazareth.

This DUFUS Bishop!- another Al Gore loser-
(if anyone recalls — Al said Jesus was a homeless person:
“”Speaking from my own religious tradition in this Christmas season, 2,000 years ago a homeless woman gave birth to a homeless child in a manger because the inn was full.”

3 To Commies, the goal isn't to enable everyone to rise to their highest potential, but to smash everyone down to an equal level of misery.

1874–1965 - Winston Churchill

 “If you destroy a free market, you create a black market.”

 “Socialism assails the pre-eminence of the individual.”

 “You don't make the poor richer by making the rich poorer.”

 “No socialist system can be established without a political police.”

 “If you have 10,000 regulations, you destroy all respect for the law.”

 Socialism is inseparably interwoven with totalitarianism and the abject worship of the State.

 “Is it better to have equality at the price of poverty or well-being at the price of inequality?”

 “‘All men are created equal' says the American Declaration of Independence. 'All men shall be kept equal' say the Socialists.”

 “Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery.”

 “We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle.”

 “It is not alone that property, in all its forms, is struck at, but that liberty, in all its forms, is challenged by the fundamental conceptions of socialism.”

 “Some see private enterprise as a predatory animal to be shot, others look on it as a cow to be milked but a few see it as a sturdy horse pulling a wagon.”

 “The vice of capitalism is that it stands for the unequal sharing of blessings; whereas the virtue of socialism is that it stands for the equal sharing of misery.”

 “The day will come when it will be recognized without doubt throughout the civilized world that the strangling of Bolshevism at birth would have been an untold blessing to the human race."

 “If I were asked the difference between Socialism and Communism, I could only reply that the Socialist tries to lead us to disaster by foolish words and the Communist could try to drive us there by violent deeds.”

 “… From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the Continent. Behind that line lie all the capitals of the ancient states of Central and Eastern Europe. Warsaw, Berlin, Prague, Vienna, Budapest, Belgrade, Bucharest and Sofia, all these famous cities and the populations around them lie in what I must call the Soviet sphere, and all are subject in one form or another, not only to Soviet influence but to a very high and, in many cases, increasing measure of control from Moscow. …” From his “Iron Curtain Speech” in the gymnasium of Westminster College in Fulton, MO, on 3/05/1946

 “The flame of Christian ethics is still our best guide ... only on this basis can we reconcile the rights of the individual with the demands of society.”

You would think that a Bishop would’ve heard that blasphemy is wrong.

“And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.”

He’s not speaking for the Church. The Church has NO such teaching. It is not written anywhere in the Catechism, I am sure, since the Catechism states the opposite.

The Church does not condone illegal behavior, not invasion of a country. The Church, as a body, knows it will have no country for its people if it inserts itself into politics, so it doesn’t.

The USCCB is mistaken on this issue. THe Catholics who hear this and it sounds good to them will not, in majority, listen to the same bishop if he calls on them to stop voting for the party of abortion.

But the Church calls on its people to listen and obey even when it’s inconvenient, and it calls, on it’s people to know the Bible and, in particular, the Gospel. such practice would dispel anything a renegade priest had to say.

That is right, Rita. Catholics who are informed can easily see this for what it is and it is NOT Catholic. They understand that the Church and any holy entity, will be constantly under attack and often from within.

Then why doesn’t the Catholic Church “define” her bishops? Should they not be good stewards of Catholic teaching and doctrine? If not, why are they permitted to remain?

Holding those who defy the Catholic Church accountable should be a prime focus when it comes to issues like this, unless of course, they tacitly agree with the bishops?

IOW, by NOT disciplining or removing these bishops, the Catholic Church is, by default, endorsing these bishops and their statements.

THAT is what I want to know. Outrageous!

But then we all know that fallen Christians are everywhere, running amok. God the Holy Spirit remains with us always and protects Truth, and shall defend even His fallen Church, as all men sin. For them, our Lord died as the True Sacrifice to give us the way to repentance through His death.

Pray for the deceived.

Clearly David does not believe that Yah'shua
is the creator of the universe.

This leader of the man-made organization,
who's "Liberation Theology"
has impoverished those in Central America.
Then driving the poor to invade this formerly
"Christian" country in order to destroy it.

David seems to be a wolf in sheep's clothing
doing the work of the Evil One.

You’re correct too, in clarifying “informed” Catholics.

The Enemy stirring rather confirms we are in the right place. There is only one institution he is bent on taking down, and we know it is us.

Stones or martyrdom, it is hard honor, but it is honor. Love, Rita

Jesus was a Jew in Jewish land. He was no immigrant. He was a citizen by right of birth.

He’s not speaking for the Church.

Let me get this straight. He delivered this at a Mass. That is his day job, right? He is "employed" by the Roman Catholic Church, right? Isn't it his job to accurately represent Roman Catholic Church teachings whenever he executes his duties?

If his teaching has jumped the rail, will his superior issue a public correction?

Nice try. Sell it elsewhere.

Where did he illegally immigrate to? Where are the orchards he worked in? Did he have a fake green card?

LOL! Just doing the jobs that Palestinians refuse to do.

Did you know that Benedict busted approximately one bishop each month of his papacy?

It should be about one each week—as fast as the Pope can sign the letters.

I’m not trying to come across as a detractor of the Catholic Church, if so, my apologies.

What I’m saying is that any organization that suffers an insubordinate “representative” is going to get stained unless they do something about it immediately.

Local Egyptian Coptic Tradition says Joseph and Mary with Jesus fled to escape Herod-

They had to pass the Jewish border guards at the Egyptian border.

The Jewish border guards were used by the Romans because they were the best fighters. When the Holy Family returned back they had to go back across the same border crossing manned by Jewish guards.

On the Eastern border toward Syria, the Roman border guards had a 2-guard station every 100 yeards or so nobody ever illegally could get through that border. The Roman Empire, including Herod, their puppet, knew exactly all the time who was in which country and where they were. [cf census in NT]

They had spies everywhere.

The Egyptian border had a long canal filled with crocodiles left over from earlier pharaohs [the canal, not the crocodiles]. All the Roman borders either had walls with guards or guards stations, as in the desert border areas.
